ADSL line fail from ISDN Question

During the processing of your order for an ISDN to ADSL conversion, standard checks carried out from your local exchange by BT have indicated that your telephone line is not capable of handling the required ADSL feed. This is because your line has failed testing on one of the following parameters:

- for ZenADSL Home 1000, the line length must be no greater than 6km
- for ZenADSL Home 1000, the noise level must be no greater than 62dB
- for ZenADSL Home 1000, capacitance level must be no greater than 300nf

All relevant checks must be passed in order to support ADSL and unfortunately your line has failed one or more of these tests. We regret to inform you that as a result your conversion order has now been cancelled. Please note that your existing ISDN service will resume on this line and will not be converted as part of the current order. We will be making a full refund of all payments for this order as soon as possible.

....How can the tests fail without an engineer even entering my house, I thought ISDN had to be disconnected first, I know my line length is less than 6km, noise level must be less than 62db as that was a requirement for ISDN. Any comments?, or can it all be done from the exchange now without entering the house?

Just thought you guys would be interested in an update.
I ordered the 512k package off Zen, that proceeded ok, sent an engineer round to disconnect my ISDN and line test and suprise suprise I can not only get 1meg on my line but also 2 meg as I only have 35db noise.
Now this really hacks me off as I argued till I was blue in the face with Zen and BT that I should be well within the boundaries for 1meg, but the same old reply was "they can test from the exchange without entering your house", when I asked the engineer who came round he said it was impossible to test the line without disconnecting the isdn and running a test from your house.
To cap it all the engineer finished at 5.30 Friday, and when I called Zen to ask how long till my account is active they said "not until monday as no customer service team in evenings and weekends and tech support cant turn it on!"
So my initial experience with Zen customer support is dire to say the least, although cant comment on connection yet as im stuck on dial up this weekend.
I now have to argue a point to get them to upgrade to my initial request of 1meg at their cost
...sitting here looking at my router stats of 586 up and 288 down, just cant log on!
