I've been an avid reader of ISPr since the middle of last year (yes -- I was caught up in the NetServices / V21 / BiscIT story !). I never thought I'd make a contribution until this thread has caught my interest.
I've never given any thought to choice of ADSL Modem/Router - and whether different ones would provide better sync rates on ADSLMax.
I'm a long way from my local exchange - my 3com router reports a download attenuation of 63 dB, with an SNR of around 9 dB (it can vary from 8 to 10). This gives me a sync rate that varies between about 1300 and 1500 kbps - which gives me an IP profile of 1000 kbps.
Although I'm more than happy with my 1 meg broadband (from my new ISP fast4) - given that V21 always said my line could never be better than 500k - is it likely that by changing my router to a different one (perhaps the Netgear mentioned in an earlier post), that I'd be able to increase my sync rate and maybe get to 1.5 meg ?
