All SLOW Access

I migrated to All Fast Access (of Yeovil, Somerset) on 17th June 2008, onto their "Silver" package at "up to" 8mb download speed and a cost of £17.99 per month. Due to me reading some good reviews and because I too live in Somerset. I was expecting a reliable and fast service. That was not to be; they were reliable and SLOW! I have discovered that "All Fast Access" are not actually an ISP. They use the services of "Upstream Internet", a Macclesfield, Cheshire based ISP, to provide broadband for their customers (not so local to me after all).:hrmph:

Openreach put me onto a 10-day training period; sometimes speeds were not much faster than dial-up and varied from minute to minute. I finished this tortuous ten day period and ended up with download speeds that were usually much less than HALF what I received previously with Newnet. I am only 670 yards from the telephone exchange and with Newnet I got download speeds of between 5,000kbps and 7,000kbps; With All Fast?? (ha! ha! ha!) Access I got speeds of between 1,000kbps and 3,500kbps.

All Fast Access responded to my complaints and said that they were trying to sort things out. However, after more than a month, things were still very SLOW. I requested a MAC Code & said I wanted to leave. They said that I would have to pay a £20 charge to "cancel my contract". I told them that THEY had broken the contract by failing to supply an adequate service and I threatened them with legal action. They then agreed to waive the £20 charge & sent me my MAC (Migration Authentication Code).

I am not saying that All Fast Access are horrible; I'm just saying that their broadband speeds were unacceptably slow for me. After all, they are NOT exactly :eek:Tiscali:eek:, are they? I am making the trek into the unknown again to hopefully find a much better (faster) Broadband Provider. Please keep everything crossed for me. :(

You seem to be one of the few people who experience this, no service is perfect.

What does it matter what pipe they are on aslong as they maintain a good service for over 99% of their customers?

You could say the same about reseller hosting, its shared of one server and can get very slow when there are alot of users, the speed is also based upon the amount of users at the time.

A reply about ALL SLOW Access.

How can you say that "over 99%" get a good service? Where did you get that figure from? Out of 5 people leaving reviews (so far) on All Fast Access, only 4 have expressed satisfaction; that is exactly 80% getting a good service and 20% getting a poor service. Anyway, all (100%) of All Fast Access customers should get good service; that is what they pay for.

I'm sure that if you received the poor service & slow speeds that I received, you would shout just as loud as I have done and warn others to take their business elsewhere (as I am). That is the whole point of having reviews on this site; so that people looking for a good ISP can make an informed choice (and avoid companies such as Tiscali, Orange, All Fast Access etc.).

I never said that it mattered what "pipe" they were using; I only expressed that I felt deceived into believing that I was receiving Internet service from a local ISP, only to find out that I was dealing with a distant one and hadn't been told. Imagine IF I had experienced problems with Upstream Internet and then migrated to All Fast Access, only then to discover that I was still "with" Upstream Internet, I would feel cheated and devastated. I will now advise those thinking of moving to another "ISP" to check out exactly WHO provides their internet service, is it another ISP?

The download speeds I received from All Fast Access were very slow at ALL times of day and night (and still are). They were much slower than I have received from Freedom2Surf, IDNET & Newnet. I will be moving on to Andrews & Arnold (AAISP) next week (a PROPER ISP:laugh:).

Your views on All fast Access are welcome.

Fellow Forum Members, your views on All Fast Access are welcome (good or bad). You won't get banned for replying to this thread; but you will probably get banned if you register under several different names:eek: then leave fake "reviews" on ISPreview.

So you said that you would be foraging into the unknown again when choosing your next ISP and just wondered which on you went with and how you were finding it and was it better than the previous one??

Thanks for the review on the All Fast Access i found it very informative and sorry to hear the problems you had but at least you didn't have to pay the cancellation fee :)

Hi Nathan, & MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thanks for thanking me for my review :) (I don't hear that very often).

I moved to AAISP (Andrews & Arnold) about 5 months ago and they are definitely the very best ISP I have ever been with; Fast, stable & reliable. I can't see me ever moving on elsewhere.

Have you remained with Andrews & Arnold in the meantime, kansenji - and if so, continued to be happy with the service?

I'm not one for doing this on the first day of joining a forum - particularly immediately after one post! - but as I have some questions that you may be able to answer, would it be okay to PM you soon? I figure it'll keep the thread tidy and I'll be happy to return here if there's then any potentially helpful info that isn't already covered in the various AAISP-related threads.

Not sure how often kansenji visits ... but if you PM him an alert will appear in his e-mail so you should get a reply. :hrmph:

I'm ecstatic about AAISP, IDnet was good too.

I'm really sorry that I've only just seen your post. You can PM me at any time & that be the case if you want to PM any other member.

YES, I'm still a very delighted customer of AAISP/(Andrew & Arnold).

Reliability & especially speed are very important to me and they provide me with the fastest broadband I have ever had (faster than F2s, AllFastAccess, Newnet and Idnet). As long as you don't do a lot of downloading before 6pm Mon-Fri, their packages are excellent. I am on their cheapest (£17.54) package and use lass than 1GB before 6pm and about 5GB from 6pm to 2am Mon-Fri and at weekends. That cheapest package gives you business quality broadband, allowing up to 51GB, unrestricted use per month. Other packages cost more & give more.

I just try to avoid big downloads during their very short PEAK period (8am to 6pm Mon-Fri). Few ISPs start their OFF-PEAK at 6pm! I don't plan to ever leave AAISP.

IDnet was the fastest of the other ISPs.:smilet:
