See my previous posts - Had Archer MR600 which when locked to 7 and 1 bands was giving great speeds but after a while would automatically switch to 7,7 giving me crap speeds

Decided to upgrade router to zyxel and initially was doing great on bands 7 and 1 (was actually aggregating 7,7 and 1) got speeds of over 200mbps

but now as the archer did... it's locking on to 7,7 again.... this is driving me insane.... seems like an issue with EE.. what do you guys think?

@cmal1001 where in the country are you, EE only locks me on to B7 + B3 combinations, no B1 comes up even though it's available.
central scotland, it was able to lock onto 1, and 7 there is a tower that serves cells on bands 1,3,7 but it always prefers 3,3 even though its crappy speed for me on those bands

VN007+ or ZTL X21 with superadmin supports cell locking

With Band locking you can only lock a particular Band or groups of Bands that you prefer to use, you cannot control the given Carrier Aggregation which sounds like what you are asking to achieve.

If you are trying to lock to a particular Cell Tower location then you try Cell Locking over Band Locking, Cell locking is actually locking to a particular Frequency Band on the one of the Masts Sectors, you could then play around with additional Band Locking on top of that but it wont have any control over your given CA.

For example on EE, you could try Cell Locking to your chosen Mast Frequency which is using a Frequency Band 1, then lock out Bands 3, 7, and 20, in order to test your Cell Locks Signal and Speed Quality and to also see if it will Aggregate, probably only B1+B1, you could then try Band Locking on top of your Cell Lock to Band 1 and Band 7 Only, and see if it will CA on B1+B7, but as said there are no guarantees on controlling an expected CA combination.

Hi mate thats what i am trying to achieve but struggling as the NR5103 only allows band selection as opposed to cell tower selection

The EE Version of the NR5103 doesn't allow Band (or Cell) Locking, so Im assuming your using the Three Version, which, although I never played with one, I thought did do Band and Cell Locking? no?

If your trying to Cell Lock, why did you get another Router that only Band Locks?

Can you get or close to a 5G Signal?, because if your needing to Band and or Cell Locking your probably going to have similar issues with 4G + 5G at some point

i not sure if the NR5103 cell locks i have looked at the settings and yes its an unlocked 3 version , i got it so that i could get 5g when it comes and for the 4x4 mimo capabilities, i don't know of any routers that cell lock (within budget)
