Any Good?

I am with plus net at the mo, but am enquiring about madasafish, is it any good?...thats the crunch really, would you recomend this service?

I have heared there is lots of engaged tones in the evenings, and it is hard to connect...

Any Good You bet

I have had my dial account with madasafish since we set the service up in 2000 and it's remained up ever since and working well to this day.
I use Zen for DSL now and left Madasafish when Iomart owned it but I still retain my dial account and use it now and again mainly for e-mail and theyre great ;-)

I recently worked at PlusNet too and I know which dial service I prefer.

Ive used madasafish for 3 years+
and have never had any problems
I would recommend them to anyone.

well your either very lucky, a very low user or a fool as the mail servers have been terrible infact practically offline for about month at one point. website was offline for a while and and the websites disapeared and dialup connections were about as stable as a 2 leged tripod during an earthquake.

so yes i can see how you could recommend a service like that and let's not forgett the inept support that hadn't figured out how to respond to email.

When we wanted an ISP account in 2000 we opted for Care4Free on Pay As You Go (One of the several ISP's under Brightview) and until we moved house 18 months ago we were happy with the service, my wife would complain about C4F because we had dial up. When we moved it was awkward to get a telephone line to the computer, the wiring and telephone socket (note: No Plural) were a mess. So we defaulted on the reasonable condition to dial up once in 30 days. Consequently, we had our webmail revoked, permanently. Madasafish took over the C4F business and despite several requests to restore the Webmail facility MAAF are adamant that we MUST change to a contract. Our usage does justify a contract so we are changing to a contract but not with MAAF. We feel that after such loyalty, to be kicked out like this is rather harsh. :( :(

I signed up to IC24 for broadband a year ago and they were taken over by Madasafish earlier this year and I haven't had any problems with my connection. The only negative thing I can think of is that it takes longer to get thru to their tech support than it did with IC24. I had to phone recently to get help with what turned out to be a router problem and the guy I spoke to was helpful enough.

But it often happens that when a small company is taken over by a bigger one, the customer service ain't as good.

This isp received good review in the new (feb 07) issue of MacWorld. but postings here seem to be a bit of a mixed bag

Madasafish

Hi,
I Have been with them for 11 months.
The first 7 or so months where bad with very poor speeds on ADSL MAX.
It took that long for it to eventually get sorted by BT. It`s been solid and reliable for the last few months. I did threaten to leave even if I had to pay before it got sorted. from Feb 27 I`m free to leave. I`ve been offered a month free and a wireless router to stay for another comitment of 12months, this seems to be the norm with brightview based ISP at the moment. Most Madasafish users are loyal die hards, and most peeps getting good service etc, will not tell you about it these days for fear of influencing others to join and reduce the quality of the service, if you know what I mean;)
<p>
I`ll be staying with them I suppose. I`m not interested in freebees , as routers and such like are cheap enough these days. As long as the connection is reliable and quick enough thats all I need. So I cant see me rushing to move anytime soon. As I will not be commited to stay with them after the 27Feb, I`ll continue with them unless the quality of service starts going down hill, plus I`ll be free to go elsewhere if that happens.

3 months or so down the line (he-he)...Still Looking Good!. I get effective throughput of up to 6500 kb/s at quiet times on an 8mb connection. Contention (50:1) can bring it down to 3-4 mb/s at busy times. Can't comment on ping times as I'm not a gamer...other than Scrabble which aint too demanding!

Tech and customer support (in South Africa) v good and cheap to access.

Avoid like the plague!

I have had 10 months with Madasafish and it has been my worst broadband experience by a very long way. I had to wait 3 weeks just to get the phone line and a further week for broadband. I have had numerous losses of phone and broadband during this time.

The worst part is the speed: the best I have had for more than 24 hours is 1.7Mb/s and the worst is 118kb/s, which is only twice dial-up speed. For this I am being robbed every month of £18. I firmly believe that my speed is being throttled by Madasafish or BT, of which they are a part.

I have made innumerable complaints to the so-called 'service' staff and they just keep sending me test after test to do, regardless of the fact that I have done them all many times before. I have spent almost as much time administering the service for them as I have using it.

My contract is up in 2 months and I will be off like a shot then. This bunch of stiffs couldn't pay me to stay with them.
