Anyone done the Bike CBT recently?

Well done, Richard. :)

May you enjoy many years of trouble-free riding - once you start tootling around on your own, just assume that everyone else on the road is thoughtless, stupid and blind, and that's half the battle won.

sadly the real test is to come, its usually very hard not to pass a CBT sadly

Hey........I'm not blind...... :D

He's not saying you are, but the more hours on a bike you get, the more aware of other road users and the road itself you get.
If you think your good now, you'll be even better in five years time.
I think that is what custard means!!

That was supposed to be humourous irony.....

Out of the 3 possibles...I chose the last....
So in effect I was saying (In a self depreciating way) that I'm stupid and thoughtless.....(As most car drivers are)

Man, but I need to work on my funny more....
That and the clever use of smilies! :hrmph:

"That was supposed to be humourous irony"

No problem, Trikky, I realised that. :)

(Got called away at the time, but was going to say "Ah, but how do I know it's you sticking your nose out of that driveway - you forgot to switch the telepathy on at the same as the engine!" ;) )

So are you going to take me for a spin round leeds on the back of your devil machine when i visit leeds on one of my regular jaunts?

I would be careful about saying yes as I am on the large side ;)

Do you live anywhere near headingley?

oh and well done

what was that jasper carrot song:p

butler, I've passed the CBT that allows me to ride up to a 125cc, with L plates. I am not allowed on motorways or carry passengers.

Looks like I'll be getting the Honda XR125L - Its better than anything else in the limited range there is that I can afford. There's a dealer in Castleford with several pre-reg models that will save me £400. 2 years warranty and 2 years AA. :)

I've found out Bike insurance is as expensive as car insurance though. :(

Going to the dealers on Saturday with someone in the know for assistance and I should be making a purchase!

I will be picking up the bike next Saturday.

Just wading through insurance companies. Not sure whether to go fully comp or 3rd part fire n theft. With an excess of £250 on the majority of quotes, you can get a few repairs done for that.

Have you tried asking about having the excess reduced (Or even removed)?

I have not had any excess on my car insurance for 10 years or so.

But saying that when I went looking round for a 'better' quote last year (I started noticing about all these 'We can guarentee you 10% online' and whatnot) Most insurance companies won't do total excess removal but some were willing to lower it somewhat.

Worth a try

If I ask for the excess to be lowered, the premium in turn goes up!

It looks like around £250 for 3rd p, t & f - There's nothing in it at all between all the companies I have called.

I suppose I can take some solice in knowing the bike was reduced by £350 - as it's a pre-reg - No miles on the clock and 3 weeks old! 2 years warranty and 2 years AA (minus 3 weeks!

Got bike today and had several local rides. Really enjoyed myself.

I need to improve pulling off as I aint quite got it right and keep stalling the thing! Practice makes perfect!

l had an old bike given to me that was a real cow to get to start off, always had to have the revs high when pulling off...

as a piece of advice, which may or may not help.. on that old bike the choke was buggerd and l didnt have money to fix at the time but basically regardless of where choke was it would stall if l didnt start off properly, which basically ment l had to get to 2000revs and then let the clutch out slowly there was a nack to it and altho l had to keep looking at the rev counter to begin with after a week or so l generally knew what sound the engine made when it was at 2000revs... basically put "find the biting point" :)
