I upgraded Opera a few days ago and it wiped all my cookies for every site. On going back here I got this message once.

If you are getting it multiple times it must be you are clearing your cookies when you close down your browser.

You could get a browser addon to stop these annoying type of popups (I think Adguard has an option to disable these types of popups)

I did get a succession of them for a couple of days but it seems to have to settled down now

The way that a website remembers your cookie consent choice is (perversely) by storing a cookie in your browser. If it fails to store the cookie, then you'll get the pop-up again.

Have you blocked cookies in your browser settings, or got any cookie-blocking or ad-blocking extensions installed?

Which browser are you using, and have you tried with a different one?

Never seen this, but 610 "ad partners" and 648 "TCF vendors" (what?) seems excessive for a small site covering broadband in the UK. You've probably got more ad partners than regular posters.

Chrome and only extension I'm using is ad block was fine a few days ago and out the blue started

That's google's standard cookie consent system, as used across millions of websites. Generally these things will work by periodically checking your consent, I think every month or so, but they can sometimes run into issues with ad-blockers, browser privacy modes, corrupt browser cache etc. It's a bit of a tricky one as we're required to run the system (I hate cookie pop-ups), just like pretty much every website these days.

Mind you, I am wondering if this has to do with the new way that Google has for handling cookies, which has started being rolled out within the past couple of weeks (currently only a Chrome issue). It's possible that might be doing something funny with other extensions, like ad blockers.

What version of Chrome are you using? There's little I can do about it myself, but I can give a nudge to the ad network / Google to check.

Hey Mark I'm using 120.0.6099.217

I saw a warning on my news feed a few days ago saying 1% of Chrome users are going to be shifted onto Chrome's new cookie managing process from January 4th as effective (unknowing) beta testers of the system.

Maybe you are in that 1%?

I switched to Firefox a few days ago when Chrome / Youtube started playing up. Now I think its happening with Firefox too. Maybe Youtube was somehow rubbished by the Google bozos.

Hmm same version as me, but as Anth says, I do wonder if it's related to Google's change. I'll query on Monday with the ad network.
