Any other Roku users here? Do you have any tricks and tips for making the most of it? I've had mine for about a week and love it so far. Brilliant little box for £40.
I agree most British TV output is dross, and that's where niche Internet broadcasting comes in. Eventually there will be a speciality podcast/channel for everything but we're still just at the beginning of that process. :hrmph:
the most annoying part being that with the introduction of TV services online the BBC want to get in on the action and insist you have a TV licence just because you have a computer.. to my knowledge you dont have to have one if you watch catchup TV because its not live, however despite that fact the licensing authority kept on telling my mother this was a lie and pretty much forced her to buy a licence even tho we dont even watch TV.
I assume you got the LT edition if it's £40? Been thinking about one myself but what I want is a device that lets me access Sky's channels without needing their set-top-box (currently their NOW TV service is too limited). I can get this via their online streaming player but to make life easier it would be ace if you could simply plug in something like the Roku and link your channels package to it.
Yes I have the LT. As far as Sky goes I think their only paid offering on my Roku is the NowTV channel(Sky News free), don't know if they'll provide a special service for the NowTV box(rebadged Roku(LT?)). Personally I don't watch many traditional TV channels (mainly technology related broadcasts) so the fact the Roku currently only does iPlayer and Channel 5 doesn't bother me.
PS, Yes I have heard of it, just dont know much about it; and then - my living room TV is still an old CRT - most of these new fangled things require a HDMI socket.
