Anyone here use the SCANCOM EE sim?

Hi, month 2 and I have just gone dead on the EE Scancom.
I was expecting throttling as the kids never stop streaming but not disconnection.
Are support business and mon- Fri hours only?

4G area so no 5G disconnection. Other Ee direct sims working okay
Have you restarted your device a few times as noted above?

If you’re exceeded the 600gb as per the terms you accepted, then sadly they’re within their right to do so.

I’d like to entertain the EE sims but probably going to go Three, as no FUP, and doubt I’ll be going over 1tb anyway.

I wouldn’t mind if that was the upfront reason but when I spoke to them they said the throttling was done by Ee and should be the same as my current Ee contract. I was happy with that but not cut off

Is it dead or extremely slow? As EE offers always connected which runs at 0.5meg or something, and if you’ve so many devices trying to work that, it’s not going to get anywhere.

Way to test is simply change the WiFi password, connect 1 device, run a speed test, then just change the WiFi password back to what it was for all other devices to connect again.

The Wi-Fi tells me there is no connection and pinging bbc.co.uk does not work but pinging the router does. The mobile connection shows connected.

Tried putting your phone sim in it to see if that works, if possible?

Also, restarted the router?

How much data do you use per month? I keep reading in places that ee will reduce the speed hit 600gb... that is my worry, and what if scancom shuts down?
4GEE/5GEE Home Router Fair Usage Policy:
Unlimited Plans are for personal, non-commercial use only. We will consider usage above 1000GB/month to be non-personal use and have the right to apply traffic management controls to deprioritise your mobile traffic during busy periods or to move you to a business plan.

That's copied directly from EE's terms and conditions from EE'S 5G unlimited broadband package if you are on this same plan and they are slowing you down after 600gb I'd be giving them a call.

Can't say much about the scancom sim however I have been pleasantly pleased with EE's 5g broadband in my area with no issues so far.

Correct and if when I contacted them they said. Cut off afterwards I would be understanding but they told me I would be treated in the same way as Ee treat me on my current contract and I have not.
What do you mean treat you the same? They are not the same terms.

The Scancom sim is on agreement with scancom and EE who can really impose their own terms, so reach the 600gb and they can cut you off. There are also terms about having more than 12 devices on the connection can also cause it to be cut off so maybe that’s the issue until the month ends.

Your direct contract EE sim has more flex as it’s between you and EE not a third party.

Scancom sims just have an allowance added as per their agreement with EE, you don’t manage that sim nor have any say in it.

Saying that, at least a warning should have been given, so Scancom should reply tomorrow.

In short, don’t treat the two the same because they are not the same.

Whilst we could argue this all night.

I would not have treated the two the same if I was told that the treatment would be different but prior to purchasing I asked Scancom

I currently have Ee unlimited data and I am looking to move to the same prepaid card but with you. Will the service and terms be the same?
I was told that the coverage and speed was the same.

Although there answer now could be argued that they did not answer my question about terms 🤔

Did you purchase directly from Scancom or via Amazon?
What device are you using the SIM in?
What does the SIM do if you put it in another device?

There have been cases - I vaguely remember one - where a sim went "dead" and scancom reissued it after some to&from. Best to get in touch.

That was me. My original Scancom EE sim simply 'died' one weekend but the replacement has been spot-on ever since.

As for the comments about FUPs and usage I've exceeded 1TB for 2 months in a row now with no impact whatsoever.

@newbuilder I think this is your case as well ^^^.

I was thinking this could be the case too, The very first EE sim I ever had back in August died on the 2nd day I had it, I only ever inserted it once into my router and removed it once to put in my phone to test it closer to the tower, and it was died as soon as I removed it from the router,
Could be EE has very cheap sim cards because I've never had a sim card die before and the 3 and 02 sims I have inserted and removed multiple times from that router and my phone are years old

Just wondering when you had to get a replacement sim did scamcom charge you for the replacement and how long had you had it before it died, also did you swap the sim from your phone and router any time or did it just die in the device randomly?
Just wondering because I noticed on their site a plan that came with multiple free replacement sims.
