as the subject states l have some hardware that needs replacing.. two pieces in fact however the only information l can find pretty much states phone numbers l cant afford to ring and there is nothing freephone.

long story short, in the last two months lve had to replace both a keyboard with a fault in the power cable and a mouse my sisters cat totalled chasing a moth.. however the new keyboard has developed an intermittent fault (Microsoft comfort curve 2000) where mainly the letter b and the down and left arrow keys just stop working which is annoying to say the least, that coupled with the fact my wireless mouse (microsoft sidewinder) seems to have developed a similar fault to my last mouse before it got broken where the scroller jumps when l use it to open tabs on firefox. lm slightly peeved :( l would take them back to the shop but this would leave me without a mouse and keyboard for a week because l purchased them online and l dont have any spares, lm quite happy to send them back but l cant afford to get new replacements at the moment with cash being tied up for xmas :( and from experience microsoft has sent out new hardware for at least 5 of my friends before they sent their hardware to them.

My solution is just to get the cheapest mouse and keyboard as possible (usually in a sale) so that I can treat them as consumables hehe :) . I often bash the buttons and keys so much that they don't last very long. Sadly that won't help you much.

I have found microsoft pretty good about replacing faulty hardware even out of warranty! I believe that both times I just called the main MS number and asked for support with a fault on a MS Keyboard.

just noticed that the number on the back has completely worn off.. wondered why l had ink on my leg once.. ruined one of my nice pairs of shorts lol.. l have to find the box now.. l know where it is but its going to be a problem getting to it Y_Y.

with work being as messed up as it is and for the week l was signed on being sanctioned for a job l wasnt offered l have pretty much only little over £140 to last me until the sanction is over which is annoying especially considering it needs to last a few months of internet/phone bills.

as for friends.. they all have laptops, and while l do have one myself it doesnt help with being able to borrow a keyboard :|

Not much help now, but when you are flush, make sure you get and keep a spare. I picked up a spare keyboard for £1 and a mouse for £2 at my local PC fair.

I understand how tight the money situation can get; our Settlement visa hasnt turned up yet, so I have had to extend my stay. With no money coming in, we are living on about £100 per month. Luckily £100 goes a lot further in China, we can even eat out 2-3 times a week, as the local cafes do noodles for 50p a dish, and rice for £1 (including meat, veg and a bowl of soup), which is cheap as it costs us to buy and cook the stuff ourselves.
Our biggest expense so far this mouth has been my underwear, I have shredded 3 sets of boxers during my morning Tai Chi sessions in the park. Just had to invest in some budgie smugglers to keep everything under control.:crap:

l always used to have spares which annoys me.. but since we started living in match boxes we had to get rid of allot of stuff.. and l was forced to cut down on my computer bits...

Butler, be nice, or I will kick your butt when I get back !!

And no, I am not letting things go to my head, I will admit the little old ladies are kicking my butt at Tai Chi every morning, but then they are already allowed to use swords!!!!

sadly, all my money at the moment is tied up in bills.. thankfully for the past week though my keyboard hasnt been acting up too much.. just my mouse with the annoying scrolling and tab opening, keeps on moving when l want to open a new link :/.
