anyone noticing issues with google?

long story short, lve been having annoyances with google for the past few hours.. l thought it was down to connectivity issues (for some reason the past 2 days lve been having this weird issue where l loose access to a couple of sites or maybe complete connectivity, access to the router is fine but it requires reboot to fix which lve done twice as well as a cold reboot).

however the thing thats confusing me the most is that lm getting asked pretty much every time to verify myself as lm supposedly accessing google services in a weird way.. now while its annoying l could understand it somewhat as my usual way is to open my email by way of x-notifier, a third party plugin.. but the strangest thing is lm also getting this issue with Gmail Drive, a program native to google which l use to sync files between two computers which is also saying lm accessing in a strange way, in addition to a android tablet using another gmail made program thats saying it cannot login now..

regardless its not like l cant login any more, its the fact l have to verify myself every time l login via sms, and l cant see it being related to the times my connection has acted up.. because lm accessing google exactly the same way l always have.

I've had that problem before, although my comment is somewhat useless as I've since forgotten the cause :) .

Obviously I'd start by ensuring that your routers DNS settings haven't been hijacked and your computer is free from viruses. After that I'd switch the router off for 30 mins and then turn it back on in the hope of getting a different IP address (Sky is sometimes quite slow to cycle customer IPs).

I suspect that Google's systems are very sensitive and can be triggered by all sorts of activity, such as logging into a Google-linked service via several different / new devices in a short period of time. This is especially true if you use a VPN or proxy provider a lot.

the thing is lve not connected any new devices in ages, my PC/Laptop/Tablet are the only devices connected, admittedly l replaced my tablet a few months back but that shouldnt have any bearing on it... because that was months ago.

as for DNS settings, l doubt they would be at fault as lve used googles DNS settings, which are set within my adapter settings.

Same as Mark, I had this about 2 years ago; eventually it solved itself - which is just as well, because I couldnt figure out what was going on; more recently I was getting almost daily warnings that Googles security certs for Gmail were wrong when trying to connect, but every time a 2nd attempt and everything worked correctly.

lve changed my passwords 5 times so far because every time l login the page tells me lm accessing it in a strange way... have to wait on a SMS to then change my password so l can login.. its really starting to #### me off.

Have you talked to Sky, it might be some weird network level NAT that they have introduced.

Does Sky support IPv6??

its been two nights now since l had issues (weirdly it happened two days in a row tho the gmail/google issues happened the second night), so far everything has been ok (touch wood).

as for ipv6, yes its supported, sky rolled out a firmware update for the SR101 within the past 6 months which completely updated the router management panel which added support for ipv6, in fact Mark covered it in an article some time back.. not sure if it was down to me letting him know or him noticing as well (as l gather he also uses a Sky fibre connection).

Strange, encountered the same issues for the first time yesterday. I didn't act any different than normally... Today all seems to be fine again.
