Anyone tried using Fast.com?

Not sure if the hash is needed but you folk are clever enough to remove it.

It looks reliable to me compared with SpeedTest and nPerf.

I find nPerf slow to perform anyway. Takes ages to file its result.

Any views.

I find it one of the worst speed testers out there, very inaccurate Tony.

This is what Openreach use to test your speeds as it can inflate what you're actually getting

There are others out there but the only one I would take notice of is Ookla.

Especially as the others all give off different readings, Ookla tends to be used here too by the network testers so if it's good enough to last the rigors of being tested in the wilds of the UK then it's good enough for me.

Thanks again folks.

Whilst I have the attention of the speedtest gurus can you tell me.

a. Why nPerf hangs at this point for quite a few seconds and

b. Whether the red reference to Ipv6 is something to be concerned about.

Speed 02.11.22.webp

Thanks

Tony

Both points normal behaviour.
It always takes a bit closing the tcp connection or whatever, especially on slow connections.
Ipv6 note in red, as it states, just means there's no working ipv6. A shame, but not a problem per se in this case.

Probably due to the Go programming language it uses.
Go is only used in the backend (ie on the librespeed server), all the client sees is (according to their github page) "JavaScript, using XMLHttpRequest and Web Workers".

Tested some different sites using my 5GEE Broadband:
Fast.com - 400mbps DL, 8.5mbps UL, 26ms latency
Speedtest.net - 315mbps DL, 13mbps UL, 23ms latency
nPerf.com - 350.5mbps DL, 11mbps UL, 24ms latency

my personal favourite is

followed by nperf, then speedtest.net. I won't use fast.com as mentioned it tends to give very high results. Also some of the servers it picks have 1 gig connections instead of 10.

Cloudflare one always gave me the worst results, which may well be true, but I guess my subconscious mind ruled it out. 😅

I have just seen this thread and I thought that I would say that one of my favourite speed testers is the following:

However, I don't know for certain how accurate it is.
