Anyone using this isp

I just heard it a very good services, no one seem complaints about this isp yet so fars. I just read it through adslguides forum. There are very expensive but I guess you are paying what you get. Not sure about traffic shaping ? But, I think this isp will be the next one to be traffic shaping once everyones joined in.

Oh dear....

The bandwidth whores on ADSL Guide are talking about Ace Internet. You have been warned!

Exactly, which means all of the leechers will jump on board, until they clamp down like all of the rest of them.

Nowhere to run soon !!

Hi Guys

Just to let you know I'm here to assist with any questions you have.

I know a few unlimited ISP's have started to cap products recently - but we have no intentions so far, or in the near future, to do so.

We have been around for nearly 8 years, and 3 of those providing unlimited ADSL access. (we've been listed on this site for around 6 years!)

Kind Regards

Steve

Cheers Steve, I appreciate what you're saying but the available bandwidth that you had prior to being in the ADSL Guide "spot-light" must be disappearing very quickly at the moment. I can't see how anyone can continue to offer unlimited accounts anymore, it just isn't a viable business model - these folks who are downloading day and night are costing you more than you're charging them!

Hi Unicast,

Thank you for your reply.

We do have plenty of space for new users. Even our predicted Max models are working as planned.

I cannot predict what will happen in the future, but we will continue to offer unlimited ADSL for as long as it does not affect existing subscribers.

We are not the only ones that are still offering unlimited access still :)

Kind Regards

Steve

It all depends on what " near future " means, once Ace have attracted all of the leechers, it will not be sustainable to continue without capping.

I would guesstimate 3 months max.

Even the mighty Zen are now capping....;)

Subscribers

Steve how many percents are your subscribers on your ace internet ?

Once, it hits 100% of subscribers then the unlimited will have to end sooner or later or maybe a new traffic shaping in force.

At the end of the day it will be your provider (Mistral) who decides whether or not to implement caps / traffic management.

Whilst that may be the case, It's not as clear cut as that. We do have agreements in place.

Please also don't forget, we are not the only ISP that offers truely unlimited ADSL Max access.

I could not find the £16.99 unlimited service displayed at the bottom of your post. Did I miss something?

Oh and does the £16.99 ( if it exists ) have VAT Included?

I have to say the package looks quite attractive, especially with only a three month minimum contract. As soon as Plusnet get off their backsides and provide me with an MAC code I'll be joining you.

been with ace internet for 3 day very good speed and service

keep up the good work

glad to get rid of fast 24

Been with them for a few weeks now. Getting occasional dropouts probably due to a combination of the actual connection speed (5meg but capped to 2 for the package I have) and the distance from my exchange, re-connects straight away though.

Have emailed tech support a couple of times and been very pleasantly surprised to received an email back (NOT an automated reply) within half an hour. Response was excellent and very informative, problems solved with very little fuss. Makes a change to deal with tech support staff who actually know what they are doing!

Up and downstream speeds are great and I can live with the occasional drop outs. Good pricing and, as yet, no traffic shaping.

I've read that some routers can be configured to limit the maximum syncronisation speed and some of the other's (e.g. some broadcom chipset based ones, I think) can be configured to obtain a higher snr margin on connection, which should also reduce the sync speed, possibly giving a more reliable connection. It might be worth finding out if your router has such an option.

As far as I've read only P2P and Usenet (newsgroups) are currently throttled.
