AOL 1mb

Hey.

Just set up my AOL 1mb and clocked the speeds at:

Downstream 443 Kbps (55.4 KB/sec) 478 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Which is more like 516k speeds? So either AOL put me on the wrong package or it's just slow? Any ideas?

I'll call AOL later. Thanks in advanced.

seems a bit wierd, they said to me the change from 512k to 1mbit might take longer than a click on there system

Try there tech support though (ring them) and see what they say

sorry i couldnt be more help but im taking the same walk with aol 1mbit from 512k

Doesnt make me feel to good about getting 1mbit to be honest

cheers

Jam1001, those stats suggest you are on 512kbs.

I would call them now 0800 3764406 and ask.

Make sure you use a hands free phone :)

I wonder why
As AOL take time & care to help people who call them, this means some customers have to wait a little time. Of course they dont like to keep you waiting, and when they do take your call they will pamper you. :)

Or I could say, they need to get more staff as they aint got enough, so you have to wait ages :(

:D

haha to right :)

I ring at 8am from work and they still take ages, must be the time and care they take to answer the phone

well i have found out, we have to wait 7 days before it actually works

great stuff...NOT
lol m8 you are expecting a bit much... i cant give you the name of a single isp in the UK that instantly upgrades your account from 512k to 1Mb with the click of a button... although i am not a person that likes aol i will say that isnt their fault, thats just the standard time it takes any isp 7 - 14days.

thanks alot for your 2 pence at the end, not needed

considering i got upgraded like 2 weeks ago

yer i do know know it takes roughly 7-14 days, took 9 for mine.

Thing was i ordered 1mbit from the start but some patient at aol call centre did a 512k order instead of 1mbit.

i recieved the job done email for 1mbit on the same day i first logged on to to aol so i assumed i would have it already.

but to my amazement they messed up again

but that old news im about 90% happy besides a small point but cant do anything about it

seems my dslam port is a bit dodgy and to repair it would be downtime on me so i can wait till 2mbit is available through aol and get it fixed then

I can...

Telewest BlueYonder Broadband!

NTL Also should be able to, and if your AOL Broadband is over the NTL cable network then they should also be able to do this with a few clicks and a restart of your cable modem :)

Im not sure m8

thinking about going with a provider that doesnt have any caps, restrictions as that is what having adsl is all about

Also with no activation cost or little activation cost.

But then again you get what you pay for

Looking at Zen, Nildram, Eclipse and NDO

Been with vispa for 512k, great isp but not my isp if you know what i mean

Any you recommend??

I managed to get the 1 month free when i rang up the first time telling them i want to cancel, think it was cause i only been using 1mbit for 4 days
