AOL and peer to peer file sharing

I've been with AOL for 4-5 years now. Would like POP 3 e-mail, that sorta thing but it works like it is and have always been reasonably happy. But....

Note to music industry people reading this - I am asking this question for a friend, you understand  My friend is on AOL & loved his Limewire software accessing the gnutella network. Suddenly it all stopped working, or connects then grinds to a halt. AOL is a bit evasive over the issue of port blocking, and who can trust their dummy cut and paste help people anyway.

Does anyone else on AOL have problems with filesharing, and how do you check if they are blocking particular ports used by p2p software?
