Are they good?

Hi Inactive,

As you would be moving to a cheaper package then yes there would be an one-off administrative fee of £14.99. The basic rules for changing package can be seen here.

I know that any extra included data transfer is taken into account when considering costs, so if you were to move to the product with 14GB of data transfer then you would effectively be upgrading (thus avoiding the £14.99). having said that, I'm not sure if you can change product and change included data transfer at the same time, you'd have to give it a whirl.

Oh, and I can't imagine what other place your referring to ;)

Kind Regards,

bpullen I got a questions to ask you about plusnet broadband payasyougo offer 10gb for just £19.99 a month but on your website it confused there where it stated say:
Broadband Pay As You Go comes with 1GB of data transfer included, or 10GB if you choose the special offer product. You can add extra data transfer whenever you need it for just £1 a GB. Alternatively you can simply pay for extra GBs as you use them at £1.25 each.

So, is extra gb cost £1 or £1.25 ??? Sound confused !

My friend got payasyougo special offer 10gb but told me that p2p still throttle and cannot over 20k on downloading on his 2Mb line - are payasyougo is traffic shaping or throttle ?? If not, then why is the speed never get over 20k on p2p on payasyougo ?

I find it very hard to believed in exspecially the payasyougo p2p speed is awful as I had seen it in my own eyes at my friend's pc and with plusnet payasgogo. Mine is fine with p2p at 240k download speed with Zen, expect to migration to NDO tomorrow.

I can't see any problem with the new T&C's at all. Seems reasonable to me that you should chose a package that suits your needs. PayGo500 suits me but if you need higher speed and more bandwidth then you need to go to a package that's designed for it. As for speed, I have just done this test here: http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp
Downstream 472 Kbps (59.0 KB/sec) 509 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 246 Kbps (30.8 KB/sec) 265 Kbps (inc. overheads)

"So, is extra gb cost £1 or £1.25 ??? Sound confused !"

It's £1 if you reset the allowance yourself via the portal. It's £1.25 if you just run over without resetting it and leave it to PlusNet to bill you for the extra.

Thanks for the info Bob, I think I will stick with my Premier, it is rock solid reliable and serves my requirements well at the moment.

@bulldog,

The cost for data transfer is £1/GB if you pay in advance for it or £1.25 should you exceed your allowance without any warning.

Take the following example:-

You sign up for the 10GB special offer with free evening and weekend calls and one month you use 11GB. You would be charged 19.99 + 1.25 = 21.24 on your next billing date.

An alternative would be to register for the package but pay to have 11GB included along with your evening and weekend calls. This would cost 19.99 + 1.00 = 20.99. If however you only use 8GB that month you would still pay 20.99 on your billing date. Hope that makes sense.

We prioritise all traffic across our PAYG packages. The end user is paying for what they use so why wouldn't we? The 5GB guideline figure you have quoted applies to our Broadband Plus offering which is intended for light to moderate use and is *not* really designed for heavy downloading, P2P or Usenet usage.

I cannot explain the speeds your friend is seeing across their P2P applications without further details. You should definately be able to obtain close to line speed on a PAYG product. I can certainly do so on my Premier account and that's managed to a greater extent than the PAYG offerings. I'd suggest your friend raises a support ticket if they haven't done so already.

If you want the low down on what we're doing at the moment with regards to network managemtn then have a quick peek here. There's a drop down where you can select each of the packages and this is linked to from our signup pages.

There will always be a select few whos usage requirements are outside the scope of our products but I like to think we have enough variety in our packages to cater for most.

Kind Regards,

I left Zen because there is no point for me to pay the full £34.99 a month for home 2Mb when I don't use internet much such as working full times job 40 hours a week mon-fri and out more often weekend sat-sun, so that is why I left Zen. But don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with Zen services. The NDO 10gb for £19.95 will suit my budget and save me £15 a month off if I don't go over 10gb in a single month when not using pc much. It make a common sense to avoid any waste of money when not using internet much.

I know in my own experience, NDO is a quality and well known best isp for rock and solid broadband and a new local call rate support call centre in UK (Worcester) not India call centre.

Lets chill guys, Not sure what NDO did or didnt do this isnt the thread to discus it in as this is metronet forum and not NDO forum.

I will split the thread and moved most of the ones that are only about NDO to the correct forum lets keep this forum about Metronet now please. I have had to leave some NDO posts behaind due to replies from the Pluisnet/Metronet rep.

Any further attempts to take of topic will also be moved.
