Area Going Live Soon (GU14 - Farnborough) - possibly by August 2023

Hey fibre promo code is

Giga 99p/m for 6m

I'm just off Reading Road, so a few streets away from you, lots of activity yesterday, no idea which provider Toob or F&W (the network provider for Hey! and others), but I'll hold out a bit longer for Toob as they have no issue using your own router. I can't see any info from Hey! on that topic.

I used to be near church circle many moons back!

I was reading a forum the other day about hey broadband users using their own router,

Need the vlan number and Mac of their supplied router then it’s all good if you can add those details to your own. I’m running pfsense on my virt machine so have it in hand.

Hey claim I can put in a pre order now and can change my mind before installation without penalty,

I’m keen to move off vm and higher upload will be hugely useful here as I’d like to use more cloud storage.

Thanks for the info.
I see todays map has more light blue live and the part of North Camp in yellow has gone red, so maybe another couple of weeks….

Looks like my part of town is now light blue on the map, nothing changed on the postcode checker, so guess I'll have to call them next week.

Edit looks like my road can order, but not my block of flats. Ugh... this is going to be a pain.

Spoke to Toob, they went to check and came back saying things were looking good, wayleave had been signed, so it would be a few weeks but they should be able to provide service to my block of flats... we are at the end of a road where the rest of road can order. Just more waiting... ;-)

I'm in town and had Toob installed mid-December but unfortunately they still haven't managed to get my service live. The ONT starts up but goes to a red light, despite the engineer measuring a decent signal/light level. Annoying! I have been waiting for this sort of internet for many many years though, so a few more weeks isn't any harm...

I found this thread while looking for details on Hey Broadband though, I had a guy knocking at the door offering to sign me up - are they laying an entirely new network or reselling Toob? Seems awfully brave for them to attempt it given there's Virgin Media in town AND Toob.

Hey Broadband are a separate network. Didn't think they had any converge in Town though.

so despite the door knockers, letters, phone calls & orders placed, I won't be getting Toob as they won't install the infrastructure on the pole across the road & won't serve me from the other pole that serves my neighbours neighbour.

I'm left with Virgin, dsl at ~24mbs or 4g ~ 10mbs indoors (used to be 70mbs+).

Naturally F&W are in the same boat, so I'm in an altnet not spot.

disappointed is an understatement.

Hey! is F&W's retail ISP.

F&W where installing in farnborough at the same time as Toob. They have separate infrastructure,

not sure why they overbuilt each other but they did.

I spoke with the installation guys when they where pulling fibre down my road and they explained they where working on behalf of F&W not Toob. would have been early 2023 or late 2022.
