Army Pulling out of NI Tuesday

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/6921702.stm

Any bets they will go straight out to Iraq and Afghanistan ???

This pull out is simply to try and stop the collapse of the military effort due to under investment and lack of troops; 1/2 the "Troops" in NI are not really soldiers anyway, the are navy ratings drafted in to help fill the gaps.

I thought that they were quietly reducing British numbers in Iraq, not sure what their intentions are regarding Afghanistan - though in my opinion neither country is worth spilling UK blood for. :hrmph:

They are reducing numbers, because they do not have enough troops to do the job, this will enable them to replace troops that have been out there without rest for far too long.
Want to bet the Royal Show will be done with cadets/actors again this year??

Blame your politicians Bob, personally I never wanted your soldiers anywhere near my country, so nice to see them leave, hopefully never to return ever again.

We lost many good people in N.I. - let's hope there'll be a monument to the brave troops who were murdered by the terrorists there. Mind you this wont happen as the terrorists are now in charge!

So over recent years the politicians have reduced our full time regulars and opted to rely on the TA. Now we aint got enough of them :(

I dont think there will be a monument for your troops here, nor should there be, it will ruffle some feathers, and no point in doing that.

Terrorists in charge? Thats funny, I though they were elected officials.

McGuiness & Adams were active terrorists and still sit on the IRA Council?

Not too funny for the relatives of the people they were involved in killing

Oh right now I see, so its just the Republicans that are the terrorists up at Stormont then?

McGuiness & Adams were on the Army Council, but are now are up at Stormont and thats where their priorities are, at the ballot box and not the bomb, and if Tony Blair can deal with it, I think maybe you can/should.

Oh right so we should go and lock them up right now, despite the whole 'conflict' ending nearly 10 years ago?! That would be going in the wrong direction, and will never ever happen.

If they were not on board for the past 10 years or so, the country would never be at the place it is now, because of their influence, when they were on the Army Council.

If that annoys you, so be it. Call it a necessary evil then.
