ASDA Mobile Visual Voicemail

My mum has been testing ASDA mobile to move away from giffgaff due to several issues we have had with their coverage locally. One thing that happened last night with them when she upgraded her phone to iOS 18.1 it looks like they now have working Visual Voicemail. I am personally with Vodafone myself after having a bad experience with giffgaff from my previous move away from the ever more expensive EE. We are looking at talkmobile due to the prices and lack it being a 30 day commitment, I will have to update if we chose to move to talkmobile regarding Visual Voicemail but I suspect any MVNO who uses Vodafone's carrier profile of 60.0.1 or newer may well support Visual Voicemail now.

I'm not 100% sure as it's not something I've researched, but I think with the introduction of Live Voicemail in iOS18, Visual Voicemail now seems to be "on device" rather than server side which is why it's working for most people. If you try and leave a voicemail in airplane mode compared to when the device has signal, you'll have 2 different voicemail greetings, one being Siri for Live Voicemail, and one being your networks voicemail.

As @Nayffy said, that’s not Visual Voicemail it’s Live Voicemail which is on device.

If your mom’s handset is in flight mode or office for some reason voicemails will go to the networks VM system.

It caused some confusion for users in the Three forum too.

I get that yes, live voicemail is an excellent on device voicemail service, but we had the usual Vodafone "Visual Voicemail is on" text after the update and no option to easily call the old network voicemail in the voicemail tab in the phone app.

They might have added…

What happens if you press and hold 1 on the keypad and it dials voicemail? Is the voice the same when you leave a message?

Yes when you press and hold 1 it dials voicemail and you get the same voice as when a message is left. I have tried dialing voicemail holding 1 on my iPhone which has Visual Voicemail with VOXI working and it does the same as well.

That's promising - maybe they have VVM now.

Seeing this thread I've just tested and can confirm my Asda prepay SIM now has visual voicemail on an Iphone 7 (it's too old for the new IOS update)!
Interesting, I would have thought that they would make a song and dance of it!

That's a tick for the spreadsheet:D

Looks like they've updated their help pages with VVM now as well.
