aspire internet no mac code

gmm

hello folks i cancelled my contract with aspire in sept last yer and on the very rare occasion you could get through on the phone have asked for my mac code, been told that it would be next week etc after emailing and trying hoplessly on the phone again the refused to give me my mac, contacted ofcom and after 8 weeks or so calling back every week they said nothing can be done aspire are just ignoring us, finally got an email from aspire wanting £17.99 for my mac code , and as ive seen in the forums here more people have paid this sum and still ddnt recieve thier mac's, now that they are bankrupt how do i get my code so i can get myself connected to another isp, i have xilo in mind, but they said cant do anything with out the mac, contacted bt who said in sept that im with tiscali !!, and then 3 weeks ago told me theres no name on the line just shows a llu connection, and help advice would be appreciated, i just want a proper connection lol,

thanks, george.

thanks very much for that, so its a call to entanet or whoever is supplying the connection? have called bt as said before and all that shows with them is llu no service name , explained all this to them last night and they are calling me at 7 pm ish from the customer service dept to see what they can do, spoken to a solicitor about all this and he cant understand why a company leaves itself wide open to court action, as im unemployed and in scotland he advised , if i want to wait a few months to put the case forward to the sac so as to be picked up by a qc pro bono, as it will forward all costs to aspire and involve them travelling up here at their own costs as well ,probably in the region of £8k just because they wont give out a mac code,,
will see what bt says tonight and then start phoning around again

thanks again, george,

I wouldn't bother with the lawyer gmm, Aspire is being liquidated and your lawyer will have about as much luck getting a reply from them as anybody else.

If the broadband line is still active (working) then PM me your IP address (http://www.whatismyip.com) when connected on that line and I'll try to verify who supplies the connection. If you know it's Entanet then they may be worth a call.

However it could be that the line is dead and the owning ISP has simply left a tag on it, in which case you may have to do a cease and reprovide, at cost, through your new ISP.

thank you for that sir, i will post it as soon as i get home im at a diff comp at the mo, as in the other post, bt didnt call back ,and as far as i know from their last contact all that was showing to them was no tag, and only llu showing against my line, thanks again for your offer of help,

george

I can't be 100% sure as the tests I did failed to return enough details on the IP you sent me. Off-hand I only know that Entanet was one of their suppliers but that their relationship broke down due to a huge unpaid bill. Most of the info. you need should be tucked away in that big topic I linked about Aspire above as the readers talk about their other suppliers in there.

after two hours on the phone found out im connected to pipex on a business connection to be told its a residential connection, and vice versa still trying to get a mac code and a further two hours of being passed from dept to dept and cut off several times , twice when someone actually was in the process of getting my code , what a bloody set up this is bloody impossible lol, just gonna do without a connection i think and rip the damn thing from the wall, have emailed the situation to them with my line number and a description of what has occured today can only expect another runaround,
thanks again for your help and advice on my ip number mark

just got a reply back from talk talk, saying that asprire internet are still trading, back to square one agian

Gmm tell them that Aspire is in liquidation and are no longer contactable (assume you have been unable to get a reply). I would also contact Ofcom and raise this complaint with them and inform them that Aspire no longer reply and previously refused to issue a MAC without charging £17.99 for it, which is against the regulators General Condition 22 rules (unless it's a second request after you allowed a first code to expire).

Ofcom do not deal with individual complaints but having them support your position might make TalkTalk think twice about ignoring your request for a MAC.

mark i have told them umpteen time that aspire is in liquidation and i have 3 reference case numbers from ofcom who in the end said they ( aspire? are just ignoring us, your best bet is taking legal action against them yourself all this was over a two plus month wait to find out this outcome from ofcom i will pm the replies from talk talk/ tiscali/opal, or who ever it is that im connected with at the mo

It has been confirmed by my Reseller Team that Aspire are still trading, this team passed on the information regarding the e-mail address you need to use to request your MAC Code.

Please e-mail support@aspireinternet.co.uk to acquire any further information, as we are unable to access any of your account details to provide you with this.

TalkTalk shirking their responsibility as an ISP again. Well if more than 8 weeks has passed then you could pursue it through an ADR:

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/new/complain/official_isp_complaints_handlers.php#3

Otherwise if you PM me the related details of the broadband line (it's phone number, supplier etc.) then I can try to lean on TalkTalk a little for you.

Just one question first, please confirm whether or not Aspire Internet is indeed now totally unresponsive to both your phone calls and emails.

no reply from them today as its saturday, closed at weekends, but when ringing i didnt get any info message, please press for,,, etc or even to say theyre closed at weekends as before, have sent an email and will await their reply on monday. i will forward the info as well
thanks , george.

no reply from two emails sent, one asking if they were still trading under the same name and still the same staff and same director etc, the second asking for a detailed total bill, with an explanation why they have kept me connected after cancelling in sept 2010 and not providing me with a mac code, i will be taking the solicitors advice and when i finally get rid of this companys inefficiency, and have a proper connection will take legal action against them as posted earlier

Best way to answer this is why they charging you 30 days notice if they are supplying a MAC key?

Cease would bring in the 30 days notice but if you set a cease date for 30 days from the notice this is again not chargeable as you gave them 30 days notice.

It is against OFCOM rules to withhold a MAC key until payment.

I see you do say cancellation but did you also request in words the MAC key?

kits, thanks for the reply,
dear sirs
after not recieving a reply to my last email, please can you
give me a detailed final bill, explaining why you have insisted on leaving
my connection live after two phone calls to cancell it in sept 2010, i will
then pay the amount expecting my mac code so i can migrate to another
company
thank you , george mackenzie.

that was the 2nd email i sent to which i got the reply i posted

Well I think they need to confirm in writing what the 30days notice is for as you will be migrating out. Migrations are free unless you are on a LLU platform where the new ISP will have to charge a migration fee to get you back onto BT network.

So Questions are:

1. Why is there a 30 day charge for migrating?
2. Will the MAC key be sent to me within the 5 working days as OFCOM rules from the date of first requesting it?
3. Who is their ADR to get them to mediate?

Good Luck

they have refused to give me my mac code from day one despite ofcom raising three requests on my behalf which aspire just ignored ,as far as ofcom goes they cant do anything, that is why i was asking if there is a way that aspire only get paid if i recieve my mac code ,ie its passed to a third intermediate party for the reasons posted earlier
