Ati cards & Battlefield 1942

My ATi card is a Rage Pro 32mb with tv out. Up until now I have been able to pay any game. I know its getting old - I have had it 2yrs!

I say uptil now as, although I can load up Battlefield 1942, when I start to play it I just get black and white scenery.

I understand that there are issues with ATi cards and this game?

Has anyone any positive, helpful comments on this issue or am I to go out and spend money on a new card which is not really viable for just 1 game.

All positive comments appreciated.

:)

I think i it just battlefields engine as it occasionaly 'jurks' around on my system (P4 1.8, 256 Rambus Ram, Geforce 3 ti500) It is normally ok if you have bots on 80% and dont put amount of CPU time given to AI on more than 20%.

Again i have never seen it running smoothly on any card under a Geforce 2 Pro

Have you got 1.1 as it fixes some problems and 1.2 or 1.3 is soon due out

I am disappointed by the lack of help - Only 1 person.

If anyone ca help me, or knows a forum etc where I can get help, please advise me.

Many thanks
:)

The other problem is that - and no offence - your graphics card is ancient, you really need a fairly recent card to get anything decent out of bf1942 or anything else for that matter.

Even getting a Geforce MX range of cards (£40>) would give you a major boost.

If you like ATI you could go for one of their Radeon cards...

Thanks guys for the feedback. The interesting this is, I have been told that B/F 1942 is not so good anyway!

I have now got Hitman2 and the graphics are so crisp, even woth my old 32mb card.

Many thanks again.

Thanks Guys for your comments.

I decided to spend some money and bought a
Gforce 4 128mb.

Installed it last night and played Rallisport Challenge. The ATi card would not even start the game. What a difference a new card makes!

Battlefield 1942, here I come!
