Whilst BT's main focus should be in getting 512Kbs to everyone it will be Interesting to see how many people would be able to get 1mbs/2Mbs ADSL
If you dont already have it base it on what the Bt Wholesale checker says.

The checker says I'm borderline for 2meg. I have cable though. And I doubt my phone line could actually manage 512k - it had enough trouble managing a 56k modem without retraining every minute or so!!

I voted 2meg though anyway...

Cant get anything more than 512 cos my lines crap. Oh I wish I had more speed. Here's hoping they get something sorted or the power companies sort something out. Cant see any cable companies coming to my neck of the woods in the near future either. :smilet:

Im not a BT user, but am with NTL. (At the risk of soundnig like spamming NTL to you all) according to their site I can go upto 1Mbit (residential) and 155Mbit (Business leased line) but im only on 768k (i think? Might be 512)

Don't you mean 600K NTL havent given the extra yet only telewest has given the extra

I'm on 512Kbs & checker says OK for 1 or 2MB ADSL. However at work in Birmingham checker said OK for 1MB but line test failed so when we moved form ISDN we have 2 20:1 512Kbs lines, with different providers.

According to the local paper my local exchange should be upgraded January 2005 so it will be interesting to see what will be available then.

You maybe able to tell from the BT Web site that will say whether they thing you can get 2Mbs

Says I can get 1 & 2 Mb, and Ive ordered 1Mb, I am due to be installed in 3 weeks, however I am sure I am near the dreaded 3.5km mark from the exchange, so I am not building up my hopes, as tests on the line prior to install may very well return results over 41db.
Pipex checker said 512k, despite all green in BT checker ! could my ISDN be causing an issue with the pipex checker ?

Anyone know if BT will check the line if their checker is all green results, or will they simply install and see if it works ?

Cheers
