Says I can get 1 & 2 Mb, and Ive ordered 1Mb, I am due to be installed in 3 weeks, however I am sure I am near the dreaded 3.5km mark from the exchange, so I am not building up my hopes, as tests on the line prior to install may very well return results over 41db.
Pipex checker said 512k, despite all green in BT checker ! could my ISDN be causing an issue with the pipex checker ?

Anyone know if BT will check the line if their checker is all green results, or will they simply install and see if it works ?

Cheers

If it shows as green they will not test the line they will just put the ADSL on

You maybe able to tell from the BT Web site that will say whether they thing you can get 2Mbs
I Just checked and the results:
Good news - Your exchange will have ADSL broadband by 19th January 2005, and our initial test indicates that it should be possible to provide ADSL broadband on this telephone line.

Our initial test on your line suggests that you should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides up to 2Mbps download speed.
So I will have to be patient.....

I get the message:-

Our intitial test on your line suggests that you may be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides up to 2Mbps download speed"

whilst people 300 yards away are told they're too far away.

Do these responses actually mean anything or should I take them with a HUGE pinch of salt?

The checker is probably correct. What people tend to forget is that cable routing can be very different and also at some point in astreet someone may well be on one exchange and someone else on another. Its also not unuual to find streets with some on one exchange & some on another.

BT checker says I can get up to 2mb. At the moment I'm on 512 but upgrading my account today to 2mb so in 5 days (if Plusnet live up to their name) I'll know if this is true :smilet:

Damn and drat. Just been told that it will take 7-10 days due to backlog and increased orders.mmmmmmmm, mental note:-remember to buy shares if they do float company on stock exchange.

Kept up to date all the way through by open ticket on Plusnet site. Got my 2mb Premier homeworker account yesterday (4th), so 8 days. Was it worth it?
