AVG recent upgrade

Hi,

Have had nothing but trouble over the past few days with AVG. Slow to load Internet Explorer, opening programs and Web browser. Removed it from my PC. Switched to Avira which is free. Can be found at WWW.free-av.com if any one else is having problems.

Paul.

I've got AVG on 2 machines (1 XP, 1 Vista) and haven't noticed any issues.

My only gripe with AVG is that it can be quite slow on older machines, though I prefer its auto-update system to Avira's, which seems to throw stupid-size-banners in my face (bigger than my lappys resolution - doh!).

My desktop PC is a bog-standard Pentium4 2.8GHz with 1GB memory. It doesn't slow that down noticeably, but then I'm not doing anything too demanding on it either.

The anti phishing stuff can slow you down if you have a slow internet connection, but I have not noticed anything on my ancient system running FF3, although I have had repeated issues with AVG saying there is no new update unless I manually download it.
Last updates on the 28th.

Come to think of it so do I, but not on a daily basis - maybe once or twice a month.

Kaspersky and AVG are practically the same product (check the copyrights).

Akbray, I do not have the problem constantly, but the fact it does happen once every month or so means that you HAVE to keep an eye on it, because once it has failed, it keeps failing until you manually over-ride it.
Back 6-8 months ago it WAS doing it nearly every time, but after several updates of the Update Engine, they managed to get it working most of the time, but it is strange, when I was using 7 & 7.5 I never EVER had a problem with updates.

AV failed to update again, although the link scanner did!!!!
