Avoid Customnet Like The Plague!

This has got be one of the worst ISPs in the U.K.
I gave them notice on 5th Sept 2005 of leaving and asked for a MAC number. They acknowleged my leaving but no MAC number. After many, many phone calls (none of which were picked up by a real person) and numerous emails, I have now consulted a solicitor. 5 days after the service was supposed to be terminated, it has not and I am stuck in limbo. They owe me money for overpayment but no replies to that either! The first thing the solicitor said was to cancel my standing order - which has been done. (might be easy to forget!)
When I joined, I was supposed to get a free URL and webspace and have not.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Yes, made a complaint today.
Before signing up with them, I had it confirmed that if I moved, they would supply a MAC number and that was in writing.
The only thing that I can think of is, that to supply a MAC costs money (???) and perhaps they are going bust. This may not be correct but I cannot think why else they are avoiding the issue.

Hmm, I notice their website says powered by Telefonica. Telefonica have been acquired by Netservices, I think another ISP has been having problems getting netservices to dish out macs. Of course even if that is the case, since you have it in writing, I guess you should be able to recover the cost from Customnet.

Netservices need a good kick up the hole! There's no consistency with this lot - sometimes they'll release MACs and yet other times they'll withhold them. They're doing themselves no favours really because in the long run people will eventually just avoid the vISPs powered by them and they'll lose customers - which affects both the vISP and NS.

28th October Solution at last

After many phone calls, emails, letters etc I called BT out of desperation. They said there was nothing they could do to help but suggested I contact OFCOM. This I did and I cannot praise them enough! They emailed Customnet on 27th October and today I got a response from Customnet. They apologised and put it down to an error somewhere along the line (rubbish) but they provided me with a MAC number.
Customnet still stink but it shows the power of OFCOM.
Thanks OFCOM but still wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to Customnet.
By the way, if you visit the Customnet website, they are no longer offering broadband. Seems like they are about to disappear!

Think yourself very lucky loads have had to cease and reprovide to get away from NS supplied ISPs..

Strange website

I am not unhappy with Customnet yet but as I posted earlier something seems wrong at the office.
Their websites are not connected. I have found the Broadband page at www.customnet.co.uk/broadband_home.shtml
If you go to www.customnet.co.uk you end up at their shop with no link to the BB page. This is the same if you go to www.custom.tv where it shows a link to BB but takes you to the shop.
Are you limiting sales by hiding your page, Customnet or have you sacked your web master? I know you watch this forum and post here. Is your phone support back from holiday yet?
