Awful Nokias

Being a long fan of nokia phones, due to the ease of use, generally good looking, and reliability, I am a bit dismayed by their new phones. http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,73,00.html

They may work well, but they are starting to look like a 1st year art student's first draft. I really cant see any of the newer ones I would actually like to have, not many look like phones any more.

I currently have the 6100, which in my opinon is the last of the decent looking phones.

That phone is great, just got a minor annoyance of its a bit slow to respond. Fix that and it would be perfect. However in the future I would like a few more bells and whistles, like Bluetooth, and maybe even a camera, but Im not that bothered about that.

Unfortunatly it looks like I will have to stay away from nokia if they dont bring out a semi normal looking phone, or go for the 6230, which is the best of a bad bunch.

Maybe Im just getting old. :o

Still got my old tried and tested 3310, does just what i want it to do, makes phone calls and the occasional text message. :D

Old Dude - you missing the bigger picture - Nokia see these designed and new and 'funked up'.

Only one letter wrong, IMO, too!! :)

I like the Nokia interface, like Old Dude. I also find them reliable.

I won't touch Motorola after having terrible problems with one of their phones.

I currently have a Sony Ericsson T610 (personal) and a Nokia somethingorother (not sure of its number, but think it starts with a 6) for work.

Reset, the 3310 is a good phone, and plain but good looking. I'd still have one if it hadnt been dropped in the sea by the gf's sister (long story).

Akbray, I agree with what you say. A family member had a motorala phone recently, and it was nothing but problems. When they returned it the store person said it had a fault and they were getting loads back. I also seem to hear of quite a few problems with other models.

Add to that I cant be arsed with learning another menu system. Is it true that nokia patented theirs?

I do think motorola have better looking phones out than nokia (the newer models anyway), but then thats not hard. Im not actually that fussy about looks, but all the new ones just look so daft. Wouldnt want to make a call cos I'd feel daft.

I have been using the 5000 series from Nokia for nearly a year, the first Nokia I have ever had, it is functional, goes 'ring ring' when I get a call and is small enough to be comfortable but big enough to hold.

Those good things aside, I still wouldn't replace it with the same brand when it eventually dies, the new ones DO look gross and I still haven't got my head around the text messaging enough to be happy with the beast being unable to allow me to write plain English (or any other language!) when I want to!

Perhaps I am just getting old.....

Well, it is a pretty looking phone....

Still don't think I would go for it though - unless I really HAD to - mind you, looking around the other offerings from the competition maybe I don't really NEED a mobile phone anyway!

I know the Nokia menu system is ace but its also its downfall. If the newer nokia's have the same features and the same menu's whats the point in upgrdaing, it probably makes more sense to keep your 3310/30 as its got the same features as the newer opnes. I for one lost my attraction to Nokia after 6100 and went back to my original SPV. Now happily using the Orange SPV C500 and love it to bits.

I've always been happy with Nokias - until about 3 moths ago I had 2 of them - 1 work, 1 personal. Now I have a 6310 (is that silver-fronted one) for work and a SOny Ericsson T610 personal (and an 8210 holding an old PAYG account in case anyone tries to contact me on that no.

My GF now uses my old 8310 (I still like that phone), having always previously used Nokias too.

Before the Sony Ericsson, my only non-Nokia phone was a Motorola, and it was an unmitigated disaster - low signal (when other phones on same network were good), frequent crashes and it spent more time being repaired than in use during the last 6 months. Never again!

I like the T610 as well, the only irritation is getting used to the interface - it's good, it's just different to the Nokia one - the only problem I still have is with predictive text input - Nokias use the 0 to enter a space, T610 uses the #, but that's a minor irritation I will get used to.

well i've had aleast 10 moblie and most have been nokia's - they have and will always be the best and most popular phones

currently got the 7250i - very good phone and the camera work better that most other camera phones - better than the 7210 -as that was my last phone. i like the size - shape and lay out of the bottons, and menu system - got to love the unlimited text messages, they can also be deleted at the same time(if u've had a diff phone - ur bont to have missed a few text's well ur memory was full - know i have)

only thing i need from a phone is to call ppl, text then, check the time, use a little of the camera, and sometyimes use the games - other stuff is just a waste of time - the wap is still to slow

I just wanted a phone that I could make calls on without looking like some prat. If its menu system is faster then the 6100 (current one) then I will get it.

Ive had a nokia 6600 for about 10 months now and wow what a big phone. But big on features. Mine broke and sent it away for a few days and i had a old nokia and wow did i miss the features of the 6600. Nokia are brining more flip phones out that i thinsk great, but there not right there yet. Still a big supporter for nokia and love them to bits.

Well, got a 6230 today. Not the nicest of looking phones, but not bad.

Amazing screen though, and loads of things on it. I have to admit the camera on it is fun.

Its a very nice bit of kit, and will do me for another 18 months.

Switched from Nokia (8310) to a Motorola v525 bout 6 months back...lovely phone....but i miss the nokias battery life...and nokia's predictive text is tops!!!! Hoping Nokia have a decent Pphone out by next time i'm due to change (though i've seen some nice ones now..whatever they be).

Come back Nokia..all is forgiven.
