B535 Three firmware update

@Adam2173 @cancunia what's the first five digits of the serial on your ID SIM card?
89442
I've been onto iD mobile about this issue and am getting fobbed off with 'it's not a SIM issue so we won't escalate it' so it will be interesting to know if it's some kind of SIM version issue.

@Adam2173 This new firmware seems without a doubt to be a step backwards! I also had problems connecting via Ethernet but managed it in the end. I think I may be trying to get it working in a way that the router was not really built for. I'm now getting issues with the Opera even trying to connect to the management page due to what look like DNS errors, I think that may be because I have Pi-Hole DNS & DHCP in the mix (DHCP is off on the B535-232). Added to that is the hybrid Mobile / PPPOE connection that I've got.
On the plus side, Firefox doesn't seem to mind and is quite happy talking to the router management page so all is not lost.

It's awful. I have nothing out of the ordinary on my setup. 10m Ethernet connected to another router to help with WiFI coverage and another ethernet going to a switch to connect some devices in my living room (consoles, laptop, pc, sky box). Been using this setup for years without issues but as soon as this firmware appeared i've had a few problems. Good to know about firefox though! I'll give that a go should more issues pop up.

I've downloaded some V10.0.0.1 firmware from a french website, I might try to flash that if I get totally fed up with the V11. I'll hold off of that until I can't sell the B535-232 due it it being a load of rubbish.

I think I can see why there are certificate issues with the router web server, seems that the certificate has expired, somewhat disappointing as the firmware was only downloaded this morning ...

For some reason, Firefox allows you to store the certificate exception whereas Opera and probably any Chrome based browser does not. I found this workaround (typing in 'thisisunsafe') which AFAIK works on a site by site basis and if so, should be ok to use if you don't want to use Firefox:

I'm not sure if i can even try this method until i get the warning message. Not sure how to force it either, happens randomly. I'll be sure to try it next time it does. Thanks for sharing!

Just to add, both our certificate dates match up but i was experiencing certificate issues before Nov 16th

If you get a moment, please can you compare your iD SIM with the one in the attached picture? The iD SIM is the one in the middle with the wider middle section. Do you recall when abouts you got the SIM?

I don't recall exactly when i moved to ID for my phone plan but i want to say its been a couple of years. Its also possible i've replaced the sim when i signed up for another 12 months. I don't remember them sending another sim out or if they do that when you re contract

Thanks for the pictures, the bottom SIM on mine was also Lebara. The iD SIMs look the same, so it's not the physical difference. I'm getting a 'we don't support routers' runaround from iD about this issue but have reminded them that they should do.

Well that's not true, clearly and no bother at all! Is it possibly something to do with ID add ons. I don't have unlimited data, don't need it on mobile. Do you have UD on your sim? Perhaps they allow it with those on limited data plans? Or perhaps its a recent thing with newer contracts/sims. I'm not sure to be honest, trying to think what is different between our 2 sims/plan/add ons. What APN have you tried?

I got my iD SIM sometime around September and wonder if they made any changes to the SIMs. I've tried various APNs including the official iD APN and the Three APN that my Huawei B535-333 loads with the iD SIM installed. The iD SIM works fine in the B535-333 and also in another 4G router that I have.

That sort of points to the 232 being the issue. Have you physically reset it with a pin until all lights glow to see if that fixes the issue?

I'm coming to the same conclusion, if I can't get any where with iD Mobile it'll be the end of the road for the router. I've lost count of the number of times it's been factory reset.
I've ordered some other PAYG SIMs from various places to see if the 232 recognises them and I'll sell the router with any known issue stated in the description.
At least I can access the management pages with the certificate bypass.

I wish i had more ideas to give but the router is quite basic. Only other thing i can think of is a physical sim issue. Here's hoping you get somewhere with it, its a decent little router

The first of my alternate SIMs arrived today from GiffGaff, the B535-232 recognises the SIM and allows me to add an APN which is not possible with the iD SIM. I can't test the speed or signal strength as I don't have a subscription but as the router reconises the SIM, I'm counting that as a positive.

There is definitely something odd about the iD SIM. I can't see the IMSI number from an app on my phone or from a SIM card reader that I bought years ago. The card reader sees the IMSI info on every other SIM I've tried.
