B535 Three firmware update

The first of my alternate SIMs arrived today from GiffGaff, the B535-232 recognises the SIM and allows me to add an APN which is not possible with the iD SIM. I can't test the speed or signal strength as I don't have a subscription but as the router reconises the SIM, I'm counting that as a positive.

There is definitely something odd about the iD SIM. I can't see the IMSI number from an app on my phone or from a SIM card reader that I bought years ago. The card reader sees the IMSI info on every other SIM I've tried.
Do you have another ID sim you could throw into it? Just to rule out issues with your sim specifically

I wondered about that & got iD to send me a replacement but it's no different. I've been told that I can get a SIM direct from a Currys shop & am waiting for confirmation about that. My thinking is that if hey have stock in the shops, it may be older.
As far as GiffGaff is concerned, I'm happy that the router will recognise the SIM and am now waiting for an EE SIM to try.

I do have a spare ID sim i might try. Still in its envelope. It may have expired though as i've had it a few months. See if i have the same issues as you

That would be interesting, so long as you don't get any charges from iD! I don't think the expiry is an issue, it should be much the same as the GiffGaff SIM. My router does not even recognise there's a SIM inserted when I try the iD SIM, if you can get to the Network Settings and add an APN that'll be further than I can get.

It doesn't work unfortunately. "Sim 1 isn't provisioned" Its possible this sim came through when i recontracted with ID and didn't bother putting it in. I don't recall.

If you get a few mins, it would be interesting to know what the router thinks of it. Looks like your phone recognises the SIM but can't get registered on the network as the SIM is no longer active.

Many thanks for testing the SIM, it clearly is recognised by the router. The mystery continues! I'll get another SIM from the shop if they have any.

Have you tried manipulating the sim while inside the router with a small pin/needle, trying not to break it of course, while simultaneously restarting the router and seeing if it registers the sim. Perhaps your ID sim isn't sitting correctly. Or sit the ID nano sim into the Giffgaff micro sim adapter and try that. Always restart router after inserting a new sim

Many thanks for you help @Adam2173 . I've been trying the iD SIM inside an adapter & tried some paper on the back of it. Maybe I'll take the back off the router at some point.

For reference, this is what I get with the iD SIM in the slot. I've tried cleaning it and putting backing on it but with no effect.

At first I wondered the same, but the router works fine on Lebara (Voda), looks ok on Three, GiffGaff (O2) and EE. The firmware update came from Three so it's a Three device.

Here's the EE screenshot

Yup, it has to be a dodgy SIM card if it works on the main Three network then.
