Bah! To Bt Yahoo Broadband!

I was recently informed that my account has a decrease to £27.99 per month. Excellent I thought, until I found out why!

BT have decided to include a 15GB per month transfer rate cap on their 512Kbps service!

What a con, its one of the most expensive ADSL providers at £27.99 a month, the content they provide is extremely limited and now they limit access!

I have been a loyal customer since I migrated from Home Highway. I feel that this is becoming a big con.

Anyone know of another ISP that is cheaper, quick to migrate to and doesn't limit access?

Regards

James

Try Eclipse, Plus.net, Nildram or Pipex.

My preference would be Eclipse or Nildram.

I'm currently migrating from Nildram to Eclipse due to Nilly's absurd static IP charge but since you're already on a dynamic IP with BT, you will probably go for the dynamic IP service with Nildram which is a very reasonable £22.99.

or since you are a migrater - take advantage of NDO's migration offer - no migration fee and then £19.99 a month, including VAt - and no download limits - a cracking bargain.

True, it is again dynamic IP address, but a static one is an optional extra I think.

A migration from BT to NDO would take about 5 days I think as BT issue the MAC codes for quick migrations...

I'm with Zen - www.zen.co.uk - who are about the same price that you're paying. The good news is that in an interview not so long ago while other providers hinted that capping may be on the cards the Zen rep said they didn't have problems with heavy users. They often (apart from last month - low number of tests submitted) come near the top in ADSLGuide speed rankings. Some key features are -

- Free migration
- Monthly contract
- 8 free IP addresses
- No caps or apparent intention to cap
- Good customer service
- Good forum on ADSLGuide
- plus the usual - news servers etc., etc.

To be honest you can probably get more bang for your buck from other providers but Zen are well respected and I've found them hassle free. :)

Over the last 2 years I have used both PlusNet and NDO for unlimited 512, and I would happily recommend both.

As everyone else is at it...

Eclipse, for total reliability. Low monthly cost (compared to some) around £23 inc VAT. Been with them for over a year, no problems, no drops as far as I know.

Low pings, and they are often first in the speed tests.

Only bad points is that they dont usually do any freebies, such as free connection, hardware etc.

But they have been rock solid on all accounts.

Edit: Just looked at the packages for the first time in ages. Not impressed, good packages but so confusing. They dont seem to have a normal option there.

A big shame, most people would like to just have a simple 512k or 1MB service, they are going to lose many customers over this.

Im glad i got mine without that flex thing, even though there will be a way to turn it off.

Due to all the replies advertising their ISPs products and prices I will have to move this thread to the general ADSL forum.
