bar ISPs from voting in polls in their own forum

ld like to request that ISP reps not be allowed to vote in their own forums, or at least not be allowed to vote in any part of the ISP listing forums..

while l have no idea and those two votes l used the report post button earlier could be quite innocent l believe ISPs shouldnt have the ability to be able to vote when concerning ISPs, if we cant see who voted in a poll and know that there are only 2 or three running an ISP then when one only sees that many votes for... one wonders if they voted for themselves...

anywho tis just my opinion which l thought would be worth mentioning.

It would be easy enough to register one or more sockpuppet accounts and vote anyway. If a rep is dopey enough to try to skew a vote under their own identity at least a mod will be able to find out.

To put some peoples very narrow minds at rest, one of those votes was mine. I was with Fast4 dial up and have nothing but praise but a few months ago I joined the real world and had broadband installed. At the time I decided on BT as I also wanted BT Vision but now intend to go back to Fast 4 as the limits will not worry me and I managed to have BT as a trial. I know a few people who post on this forum have had a few problems but they number very few in comparison to people I happen to know who have been very happy with the service. I would prefer no adverse comments from the few as I am perfectly entitled to any opinion which should be respected as I fully respect other peoples .
Hopefully this can stop a few people getting very excited at the prospect of being able to give yet further digs at the reps who in my opinion try very hard.

At least I feel better after that!

while l respect your opinion, and choices may l remind you that changing Terms & Conditions without prior notifications to users invalidates contracts, sadly users have not jumped on this... to be honest l admit lm not fond of Fast4 especially since l shared the same network as them at one point, and the fact they lied about restrictions which adversely affected myself even tho l wasnt with them l still have grievances since none of EurISP knew what was up (which suggested they had some form of contact with tech crews) l watched them lie for two weeks about the FUP..

now while things may have changed l hope you cant blame me for being somewhat sceptical of them as a whole especially since there only seems to be three ppl in their whole crew.

To put some peoples very narrow minds at rest

Just to be clear, while I may find the way the company treats some customers objectional, my post was in no way suggesting that I believe the vote you are referring to are anything but genuine.

I will admit to believing where these votes originated, and obviously, being wrong. When I joined in July, I raved about Fast4- despite regular drop- outs and customer services being available for less than 25% of the week. They supplied what they promised. It is quite likely that they will perform very well in future for light users.

At present I am a vociferous anti-Fast4 consumer, but wish you well in your choice

I agree that employees etc. should be excluded from polls, but Mel makes an excellent point for why this may not work, just have to rely on their integrity?

The problem with the vote was the original member starting it forgot to specify this was fior BB customers only which are affected by the new download limits imposed. Flojo if I remember is on dial up.

Kits, you will see from my previous post that I WAS on dial up and with Fast4 with whom I was very happy. Hence the way I voted. My broadband is with BT. I was simply trying to show that the votes were in fact genuine and to prevent a long discussion/thread which was not valid. But I have no desire at all to get dragged into a discussion about Fast 4. As I said previously, I have my own opinions.
The limits worry me not at all but then I am not a heavy user. I would guess that the majority of people who use this forum are indeed heavy users and would therefore have more reason to dislike the new Fast 4 limits. I think it will be fine for a lot of light users like me.

Also, the poll states "If you are thinking of joining Fast 4". So how can this be for people who are ALREADY on Fast 4. It is obviously for people who are not on Fast 4 and are thinking of joining. Like me!

I hadn't even noticed youi had moved to BT flojo was posting from memory.

As for if people are heavy users or not at present doesn't come into this since today all seem to be on speeds lower than dialup and capped due even though they are withing the 15gig limits.

I'll have to investigate what controls vB gives me for restricting poll access but I prefer to avoid having lots of individual permissions set. Right now the power cut means I've got tons of news and work to catch up on so I'll probably forget :) .
