Best cheap e-sim for backup phone data?

Oh another thing too, I notice iD does 3-way-calling properly, I don't use it often but occasionally it's very useful to me, nice not having to battle someone to enable it, and from my experience 3-way tends to be disabled these days on most networks.
Yes, Threes IMS service is ace. I'm not sure if Vodafone supports it or not, I shall try it when I get my Talkmob sim. I *think* they do, but not 100% sure.

It doesn’t work with VOXI I know that much.

Having access to all 4 networks on the cheap is very appealing, 3 should be enough though really huh 😂

Ah okay, it won't do then. Does that make Three the only UK network to support 3 way calling? EE doesnt and last time I checked, O2 don't either.
EE do but last I checked they only enabled it for pay monthly handset plans, they are able to enable it under “3 way calling capability” under Excalibur (system they have), had to badger a few colleagues when previously with them and eventually one just did it for me.

Maybe I just need an ESIM that does Voda/EE/O2 instead 😂

So NOMAD does an eSIM for £6.50 a month for 1GB of O2/EE/Voda/Three.

VOXI is now offering me unlimited data for £10… that’d be great but I haven’t even used half a gig this month 😂 ultimate coverage would be nice but nah, sold on £6 and three way calling

Assuming it's 128kbps (typical for medium quality MP3), that's 16KB/sec, or 57.6MB/hr, or 54.93MiB/hr.

In 30 days that's 1.73GB or 1.61GiB.
Oh man I can’t resist, what would 320Kbps high quality use non stop for a month be? 😂

VOXI lied by the way, it’s still 30GB not unlimited like their system suggested. (Would upload pic but too large)

Off to iD!

Yeah that sounds about right candlerb thanks.
I'm delighted with Spotify on my watch, looks like my 3 GB will do just perfectly.
£1.50 for first 3 months then £3.90.
(If I dont become a new Lyca customer yet again) 🤭

If it’s still being offered the 100GB for £7.99 for a year is a good option if you need a large amount of data. Lyca is generally going to be a good choice for a secondary data sim and eSIM too.

Just don’t use it for voice and you’ll be fine. The call quality is generally absymal due to the lack of IMS services.

I've used my watch a couple of times for calls and it was surprisingly clear Ewan, maybe I've just been lucky. 😊

Thanks for the tips! I don’t use much data at all, so I’m going to iD Mobile £6/Month for 8GB and using BNESIM as a backup, about £3 for 1GB that never expires or they do cheaper monthly ones, default is O2 but also uses 3 (not for me because I’ll be out of 3 signal in my scenario), and EE, my expectation is that I won’t be using that backup data very often at all and iD will route calls over BNESIM if I’m outta signal.

Oh and Three & Voda will be merging if approved aye? Sweet lol

Much network, many cheap.

Hang on is that £3 for 1Gb on BNE until it expires?

If so, that’ll put my ‘oh no I’m relying on 3/Smarty’ worries at ease.

I currently have an O2 3-2-1 classic sim as my back up line which rarely gets used, apart from when EE collapses at work on a weekly basis.

Primary sim is an EE esim but as of tomorrow that is being replaced by Smarty - which means goodbye O2 sim as my iPhone is single sim!

Yeah correct, until I use it, no expiration.
Massive plus it also uses O2/3/EE, almost an anywhere sim at that point depending on what primary network you use!

@chrisyyw HEAVY50 for 50% off ;)
Think it expires 10th Sept 2023, not sure if valid on one-time's
ESIMDB15 gives you 15% though ;)

Does it route like a foreign sim?
I have a travel eSim and it appears as Orange France which allows o2 and EE but its not exactly brilliant as it routes out of france for internet.
Truthfully it seems to vary, I did one speedtest and got 10Mb/s which is plenty for me/backup, (I do live in a basement flat though, haven't been out to test speed).

Once came out in the Netherlands, then came out at London OVH, haven't used/tested much tbh.

Just tested now and it's breaking out in London, which tbh considering Voda likes to route me through Scotland for some unknown reason, that's pretty good! lol
