Best way to cease with current, uncontactable ISP?

Hi all,

I'm currently registered with TITAN (heh, yep, I know) and want to change. They're un-contactable by phone, the support email isn't being answered (my original MAC request was in May), and their website is closed due to non-payment to the host.

A couple of questions, if I may?

1. Obviously I can just cancel my direct debit and the service goes away. Are there any possible repercussions from that? Will I start getting threatening emails because I'm not paying for the service, or will they simply cancel the service when the next payment fails? Will I get a "black mark" against me anywhere on some invisible ISP problem-customer list?

2. Is there a better way of ceasing where I can be confident I'm protected from any fallout?

3. What kind of period can I expect to suffer with no broadband if I transfer to a new ISP without providing a MAC?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I beleive that Matt has sent you your MAC code earlier on after going through the email logs and not finding ay requests.
As for our site being down our supplier suspended our server account by accident.
If you require further assistance please let us know.

Neil,

Generally speaking, if your connection is still active but the ISP are being poor at communication, then merely withdrawing payment is probably a bad idea. After 8 weeks you should be able to pursue the problem with an ADR complaints handler but then we don't know which mandatory scheme TitanADSL are members of.

It seems from above that your problem should have been resolved but do take a look at this section if you continue to suffer problems:

In situations where the ISP cannot be reached, and you are also out of contract but still have a service, then you may be able to contact the supplier of your connection instead (can often be found by resolving your IP address).

Thanks for all replies.

Titan did in fact respond to the email I sent the same morning as I started this thread, as pointed out by Stuart.
