BF2 + Outpost

Hi, I installed Outpost firewall t'other day.

Now i can't connect to the server for BF2..you know right at the start? Message reads - error connecting to a socket.

I have put the BF2.exe in the allowed proggies list..but compoota says no.

HELP. :crap:

I don't have Outpost installed myself at present, so it can be rather difficult to get this answer right since Firewall's do tend to differ. I'm assuming that your problem here occurs right after you've entered a login/name password at the first game screen?

This is the point at which the BF2 clients connects to the GameSpy/FilePlanet login server and may or may not be related to your firewall. One common problem is often the anti-cheat PunkBuster client, which can have problems. I suggest you try this (selecting BF2 and checking the PB files used by BF2):

You should also make sure that the following client ports are open in your Firewall:

UDP 27900
UDP/TCP 29900
TCP 80
TCP 4711
TCP 29901
UDP 1500-4999
UDP/TCP 1024-1124
UDP 28910
UDP 16567
UDP 55123-55125

BINGO!!

Ok, i'll try all of this and get back to you.

I did forget to say..i was using the Special Forces disc if that mattered.

I have a Belkin router and within the config i have the 'Direct X Games' port opened. I shall see if the numbers you list are the same and maybe thats a prob too.

Why can't it ever be the easy option!!

Cheers.

The disc shouldn't matter, but you know, have you ever actually managed to play BF2 yet because your name looks familiar =). Maybe I ran you over in a tank once lol.

That was you?!!!! Why I oughta!!

Yeah..i been playin online for couple of months..but my copy of Panda Security ran out other day so i'm on a new setup..hence the problems!

I'm POBBLE in BF1942/BF2...see ya 'round. (I'll be the constantly dead one!)

:D

:D Sorted!!

Uninstalled Outpost...installed ZoneAlarmPro..added the various BF.exe files to trusted progs and connected first time!!

Outpost's too clever for it's own good..well mine anyways!!
