Biscit and V21 to merge
August 10, 2006
Quentin Reade
ISPs Biscit and V21 are set to merge, the companies have announced.

The merger will take around 60 days to complete, according to Biscit chief executive officer Hugh Paterson, and then V21's 43,000 customers will start to be offered bundled phone and broadband packages that are currently available to people on Biscit.
Paterson said he hopes the merger will also the companies to compete with companies such as Carphone Warehouse, Orange and Sky.
"Our goal is to provide V21's customers with the products that will slash hundreds of pounds out of their voice and broadband costs each year," he said.
He also said the merged company aims to "provide customers with the highest level of support and quality of service".

See I told you...all at Biscit are afraid of of the word 'help' or 'enable' to the extent the can't bring themselves to write it down!

I am at the end of my tether.
No broadband service at all - using orange pay as you go to do this @37.2bps.
No answer to emails, telephone or letters.
BT can't help, OFCOM can't help, Watchdog can't help.
Are these people fireproof - they're taking my money and providing nothing.

If they are providing nothing, then this account for little more than theft, it may be worth looking into your rights on this and cancelling your credit/debit card.

BISCIT VERy BAD Customer Service.

I have tried so many times to Cancel my service with these people. wrote letters, phone calls, e mails via member portal login (Finally working) but cannot cancel. Ohhhhhhhh but payments taken out from my bank, for nothing. I dont even get their broadband service Is this a ghost company???????????????? What is wrong with these people. All they are interested is taking our money. Imagine this happening in the U.K

I have the fraud investigators of my credit card company on the case though I don't know if they'd have any more luck than us at getting through.
Now I have the ezeedsl message - they say they'll put a cease through on lines that don't take them up on their offers.
Don't know how long they'll wait but I'm going with Zen next.
When the cease notice does get posted it takes 10 days before your line is free so I guess I'm on dial-up for a while yet.
Looking at some of the reviews and googled comments from V21 to ezee might be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

I had the same advert and i use naims. The problem is that Netservices provides the wholesale broadband to naims and v21 biscuit ,and it is Netservices that has basically pulled the plug because naims and v21 customers were leaving them.Using net tools all the problems i had with dropped packets, slow speed originated from netservices ,and thats why those isps were leaving that supplier. The advert is just a ploy to keep you as a customer ,on a different isp but with the same crappy network

Magic - see the V21 Forum posts here at ISP Review. You want the free phone back up number, not the 0845 (which is not free) number posted today on the V21/Biscit website (which, as you say, doesn't work anyway).

Ellison, I too use Naims. I managed to get through to their status line today. Theres a message on it telling people to bear with them whilst they attempt to get another provider, ie not netservices. have you cancelled your subscription or are you hanging in there?

Please only post once in relevent threads everyone is in the same position.

Yes im hanging in there.Im using the naims unlimited dial number which you can use if theres a bb problemNaims has always provided very good support and service for me.Its only been latley that ive had bad download speeds and all network tools point to netservices being the culprit.I personally wont use a netservice bb network again especially after the way they have behaved ,which i think smacks of opportunism ,without any regards for the thousands of users involved.

Out of interest, is anyone (using a V21/Biscit email address) receiving sudden substantial amounts of new spam - typically trying to sell you a repro Rolex or offering some highly suspect financial service?

And is any of the spam addressed to another V21 user/s and not you?

No more than usual. May just be a coincidence. Incoming mail on my "@v21mail.co.uk" addresses only works intermittently anyway.

Yes, I have suddenly received a lot of junk spam emails. Just had 24 in the last 10 hours either dubious financial deals or offers to increase the length of parts of my body!! Never had these before the biscit saga. Have blocked the addresses so hopefully this will stop in time (or at least until leave biscit!)
