Biscit Joke of the Month

I was a contented v21 customer until this Net Services/Biscit fiasco thing broke. I sent a message to Pipex as I'm interested in phone line, calls and broadband. They tried several times to get me which makes a pleasant change re customer service and Biscit and I explained the situ which they knew about.

I said I would definitely be interested in one of their packages which are better deals than Biscit but after 1st December. The lady concerned gave me her own number and told me to contact her direct and told me the special offer I would get. This and the attempts to reach me impressed and I'm definitely off to Pipex when my line cancellation is through. I have checked the BT site and it confirms my line is in process of going. Can't wait and will tolrate the 10 day dialup for a good service.

Here is a new one for you . I have been a V21 customer for over 2 years and pay my monthly subscription by credit card .When I checked my statment from the bank last month to my horror they had taken 2 payments out on consecutive days . I have been trying to get in touch by phone ever since ,the rest is history.

Sorry Dave but you are not unique hundreds of us have been double charged or charged for a non existent service before and since Netscape cut us off.Despite numerous attempts at contacting Biscit I have had no reply to my attempts to cancel or get a refund so I have cancelled my direct debit to ensure they can get no more.

Hi,

i can beleive this biscit still taking money out for a service i no longer use. thay have ignored all my letters of cancel and still taking incorrect amounts. so far have paid £400.00 of 2 months internet service. my cc company are so slow from stopping these payments. Should i go to the Police next? As this is fraud.

You may want to seek legal help....
A visit to the CAB is never a bad idea.... They can give you good advice.

They may suggest court procedings.....But you may be careful on that one..

Have you spoken to your CC company about these unautherised payments?
Do they understand the situation?

Hi,

Thanks. Yes have contacted the cc company and wrote letters to them with evidence of me trying to contact BISCIT and explained the situ to them. Thay said they have put a stop to the payments but Biscit keep overriding this and use different accounts to take the money out. Called CISAS god they were less helpful spoke to a brick. Please write to Berkeley House etc.
I really cant beleive this kind of thing is happening in the UK. All these bodies to protect the consumer rights from companies like biscit cannot do a thing to help.

Are you sure it is Biscit taking the money the fact it is going to different accounts looks like you card number may be out in wild you need to get your card cancelled.

110% sure its going to V two one /Biscit my statements show its their company who is taking it out.

In that acse I would be inclined to agree with Sdrew......Get the card cancelled..... And if they are doing underhand things like switching account numbers and your CC company is unable to help then I would seek out proper legal help.....

Get a solicitor....Or at the least an appointment with the CAB as soon as possible

Rather than cancelling the card report it lost or stollen (or that you believe the details may have been compromised to an untrustworthy party) so they stop the card and you get a new number.

It is not usually possible for a card company to block payments because they are guaranteed (although ultimately the merchant status may be withdrawn), although happily they can charge them back.

It is an unpleasant fact that if you set up continuing payments through a credit card account, you can't stop them, even if you cancel your credit card, without the say-so of the recipient. Jude will have to write a letter to V21 asking to cancel the agreement and, if his request is refused, copy it to his bank which should take up the case.

OK.....You will have to forgive the ignorance here....
Is that not the same as getting the card cancelled?

Or will cancelling the card cancel the account?

Biscit Whinge of the Day!

Suddenly (06/12/06) the junk mail has stopped coming in Hooray!

But wait a minute, so have all the other messages!

Can't get hold of Biscit, can't get the problem fixed, why am I still with this awful company?

Grrrrrr!!!

The spam keeps coming in, but emails and test messages don't.

Just another fine service brought to you by those nice people in North London who are only too willing to grab your money and then ignore you.

Ofcom, where are you!!!! We pay your wages as well.

So this is where your recorded delivery letters of complaint should be sent and presumably the old V21 office no longer exists.

Has anyone been to this location? I have it in the back of my mind that this might be a former address used by Dixons - another truly appalling, profit driven company with no interest in customers.

According to Patterson The Pretender, while delivering today's proclamation to those peasants still using V21/Biscit:

"About 9,500 of V21's 40,000 plus customers had their broadband service disrupted on the 15th November because of a commercial dispute between the new owners of V21, Biscit, and NetServices."

You'll notice there is no apology, no offer of any compensation for the awful service and you might almost be led to believe that the customers were to blame. It's also interesting to note the 33,000 V21 customers has rapidly expanded to 40,000 since Biscit took over and wrecked the service. I think not Mr Patterson.

Biscit already had 6,000 customers so the 33,000 would put their total to just below 40,000 and I have no doubt that their offer has also attracted others who were totally unaware of the problems. The greater majority of BB users do not know anything about forums like this and will just run a search on Google, Yahoo etc for cheap BB. When they find a company who look professional and the price is good they sign-up..... They should put a government health warning on sites like theirs.

A fair point Nigel and I'm sure that Biscit has picked up some additional business since the take-over of V21. The overall customer figure for Biscit might easily be higher than 40,000.

But as Patterson specifically says V21, which no longer exists, I think its reasonable to assume this claim refers to the original V21 customers and its fairly clear that significant numbers are no longer using the service.
