Biscit/V21 "Dial-up Status" at my end!!!!!.

Since Biscit/V21 seems to fight shy of regular Status Updates I thought we could do it for them!!.

My Current Status on 2nd Jan 2007 is..........

"members" & "me" e-mail's "not sending" (there seems to be a protocol problem).
But receiving OK..!!.

All 0808 dial-up numbers appear to be working OK.

I find i cannot send any e-mails today (29th Jan) (by dial-up) either from my main PC or my wifes laptop....
Is anyone else out there having any problems please..... or is it just me??

Now on my 4th day of not being able to send e-mails...
I was able to send some yesturday morning Tuesday 30th Jan, but its back to same old routine today.

My e-mails worked OK yesturday
But cant send again today...
This is driving me nuts....!!!!

If you've got a gmail account, you can use gmail's SMTP server to send emails from other accounts. You have to register the email address from gmail under settings->accounts.

Personally I'd dump the V21 address altogether.

Its now friday evening and I can send e-mails once again!!
Its really hit and miss at this end........
Think it will be gmail after this though

If you haven't got gmail you will need someone with a gmail account to send you an invite. If you don't know anyone pm me your email address and I will send you an invite.

Ive found out what the problem was with my not being able to send v21 e-mails.....
It seems to be phone number 0808 9933 127....!!!

This one phone line is very iiiiiffffffyyyy in sending e-mails for me...... most of the time it wont let me send.....!!!

While Im on about phone lines, I do regular speedtests using all the phone numbers i have for v21 dial-up and I find 0808 9933 025 is always a lot slower than the rest..... infact half the speed sometimes.

JC

If Biscit haven't changed it, as I recall V21 use the 0808 9933 025 number for VISPs and the cheaper V21 packages, and as a ADSL backup number. The other numbers were eventually reserved for customers on their more expensive packages with lower contention ratios, although they could also use the 025 number if they needed.

Ive had Free-phone Dial up problems for almost 24hours now...... I can get on line but the V21/Biscit server isnt talking to my PC (I can only get the Biscit support site and my customer log-in to come up) Biscit say they know theres a problem and customers should use their local rate phone lines........

They always seem to take ages to sort things out when things go wrong!

You need to find a new ISP Biscit is in administration so all customers are moving over to others Dial-up need to just find an ISP ADSL customers if BT can get their MAC codes Eurisp supplied have internet until it is sorted.

Thanks for that Kits..... I knew there was some talk about V21/Biscit going bust in PC Pro a while ago but didnt know that it has now been formalized....
Now for some research on another ISP and changing my e-mail addresses.
Thanks again
John

I would recommend getting a gmail email address it will always work and no matter what happens with your ISP it will be there.
