JPC

Hi
I find I am slowly loosing access to some sites via the Biscit v21 freephone server namely www.iii.co.uk and www.co-operativebank.co.uk

If I go onto the internet using BT Click I can access these sites ok.

Is there anyone else out there experiencing the same sort of problem or does anyone know the solution to it?
I am using Windows 95 and Internet Explorer 5.5
Many thanks in advance

Biscit v21..... loosing access to some sites

Hello,
F W I W, I've found some loss of access to certain sites, noticeably since the 'merger', and a great deal more spam, of the v**gra - enhancement - investment deal sort.

I can't access my nation wide online bank, although co - op works normally. And I use XP and Firefox, so that's not the clue.

Are you using the really free dial-up line: 0 8 0 8 9 9 3 3 0 2 5 ?? But why can't you use the temporary broadband?

Sorry I can't help more: I'm not very 'techie'!

Could this be a DNS problem?

Do you know which DNS server you are using at all?

If you know how to change it to another...Try using 4.2.2.2
Its a top level DNS server.....Above.net I think...Could be wrong

Thanks

Many thanks you guys!!
Well that sounds strange malcarr as the Co-op is my online bank!
It seems to affect sites i visit the most!!
Yes I am using the 0 8 0 8 9 9 3 3 0 2 5 freephone dial up.
Afraid i cant use Broadband, Windows 95 dos'nt support it.

Ive tried two DNS settings provided by Biscit without success:-
"ns0.biscit.net 82.195.96.46" & "ns1.biscit 82.195.96.5"

But if it was a DNS problem wouldnt it affect more or all sites i try to visit?
Best Regards JC

 You bank online using W95 and IE 5.5? Gee why not hire a plane and get it to trail a banner across the sky showing your account number and pin...be a damn sight more secure!

I have no idea....But the fact that they are both supplied by Biscit may be some of the problem....
Give it a try....I can't hurt at all...

And my bank won't allow me to use opera to access my account....Go figure :hrmph:

Intreagured by the Dial up number 0 8 0 8 9 9 3 3 0 2 5
I use Naims.co.uk for my service and its the same number ?
I was under the impression that Naims no longer had any involvment with V21.Biscit - but they obviously still have

I can access my "Smile" bank (Co-op) Ok with Opera and XP

I find that a lot of sites refuse to allow me into their secure areas because I use Linux. However, I have changed the details they are sent look as if I am using M$ and IE6 but am using Linux and Firefox.... Most things work but some of the text is not formatted properly and some of the drop downs don't work properly.
This could be the bank refusing you access because you are using an insecure OS and browser.

Thanks

Thanks again you guys...!!
I can still access everything OK via "BT Click"
So I still feel its something to do with the Biscit server Im connecting to refusing me access to these sites.
(Ive tried turning my Firewall off and its not that)

I've tried twice to upload something to Rapidshare and it just won't work... bang goes my RS account if I can't feed it :crap:

EDIT: No it's not Netservices blocking, I tested with another file and that was fine.

Maybe that V21 paid Naims.co.uk for the use of the 0808 number..... Mind if they don't there will be another bill being sent to Biscit they didn't expect....

Naims were a V21 reseller, v21 provided the internet connections, billing and even the once insecure sign-up serverhttp://www2.ispserve.co.uk/sec/_age...package_detail&a_code=9021442&pre=&smp_id=146

I believe that FRIACO number was used by most of V21's visps and used to be used by some of V21's direct packages too.

Hand in pocket time to get an OS that is currently supported by Micro$oft,(Win 95 was Unsupported as of December 31, 2001, an OS *usually* has a lifespan of 6 years) with that you will get the upgrade to a more secure version of IE.
Or you could carry on using what you have now and trust your luck holds out ;)
