Blueyonder Bans!!!!!!!

I recently had some probs with Telewest I have been disconnected and when I phone Blueyonder up they say that I have altered my config file on my modem and the abuse department are dealing!

I dont even know what this is I have recently had probs with speed so I spoke to a telewest engineer and he pointed me too speedguide.net etc and I tried the various registry keys etc is this whats wrong??

As for them banning me and not even letting me know for 2 weeks is disgusting as I use my connection for internet banking etc........

After numerous calls and no feed back I have decided to go for the cheaper/faster service from one of the many dsl providers

As for telewests unnaceptable behaviour on this matter is very surprising when both NTL/Telewest seem to be struggling to survive so I am another customer who has removed all supplied services from them.

All it took for them to resolve this is to phone me and discuss what issues they had because I would have been happy to resolve them.

But how can they accuse me of bandwidth pinching when i could mention Contention Ratios etc. That ensure I dont get my full bandwidth usage.

I also recently calculated on a given week I only use approx 40-50% of my weekly total maximum bandwidth usage.

Anyway I hope you all have a fantastic day watching England Thrash Denmarks ass!!!!!!

First off. In theory all you have to do is edit the cable modem config to remove the bandwidth cap completely! Of course doing this would be silly as they would find out quite quickly just as they can if you hack your tv box to get channels for free. So basically what they are acusing you of is possible! Take the new 1meg service. This prooves it is possible as all that they do is send a new config flash to your modem, you have to then switch it off and on again and it boots up working at 1meg instead of 512 with no other modifications.

The user ratio's cause no problems to the amount of bandwidth available. I cold get 64-72k constant on 512 and now on 1meg i can get 128-142 constant (well i think there are only 2 other people near me that have broadband)

Second: What are the bandwidth limits? I have read all the docs and terms and conditions and i have scoured the t/w website for any limits and as far as i can see there is no weekly limit.

i am online most of the time with broadband downloading overnight while im sleeping

i also rang an engineer and done all that speed test thing but didnt have to touch the modem ???????????????????????

There is an uncap sequence doing the rounds on the Net. Dont bother asking me for it as I have to stop junk like this ruining network slowdowns for a living so im not going to make my job worse am I?

Telewest are going to seriously bust people who change uncap their modems. It is theft of service really as you as supposed to pay for 1Mb line.

I suggest that anyone who uncaps their modems puts it back.

What I would do in this case is put in writing what you did, who told you to do it and when. This will ceratinly help your case, otherwise how does the company know you did something accidentally? Try and put it as nicely as you can 'cause if you are snotty they will simply cut you off.

just pay the extra £10 a month for 1mb service beats bt's prices :D

Its very easy to stop the uncapping of Cable Networks any operator that confures his Network so that it can be uncapped deserves what they get they should not be that stupid.

And likewise anyone that is so stupid as to uncap their modem and not expect to get caught and banned deserve all they get.
