Still waiting for Calico's servers

Thanks Tinman. I submitted a complaint on 27/11/07.

Reply on 27/11/07:

We have received an email from ISPA in regards to a complaint you have with the above service.

As per our email to all users we have taken over support of the service and will continue to supply your email service.

We made note in the email to the fact that any old email would be restored at a later date. We are awaiting the previous suppliers to send us the servers containing users old email in order for us to import this into users accounts. We hope to have this data within the next week and then we will need a couple of days in order to import the data to individuals.

We appreciate this may be frustrating but we can confirm we will complete this work as soon as we possibly can.

We are in the process of updating the support pages and very soon users will have access to My Account which will enable users to send us emails direct to our support centre.

Once the information is available an email will be sent to all users.

Hope that helps. I think we will be lucky if we get our emails back by Christmas, however.

Threats against the CEO are out of order, but the ISPA complaints procedure is a good way to let off steam (politely) - and you get a reply!

complaints update...

I have submitted a complaint to the following....

1. This site and it was noted (great service, well done).

2. BBC watchdog (don't know if they will take any action as they get thousands of emails and don't generally respond individually)

3. ISPA (received confirmation of my complaint being received but nothing else so far.)

On the Ecosse.net service through Breathe - yesterday my web space could not be accessed for several hours (site not found errors) and email is still working sporadically. Old emails in my inbox still haven't appeared yet.

Breathe response to Ispa complaint...

here is the email I received from breathe...

We have been forwarded your details by ISPA.

In regards to your queries we hope you have noticed a much reduced amount of spam being received to your Inbox. We made an update on the system last week and upon testing have seen far less junk mail being received as a whole.

Our technical team have now received all the information they need in order to upload users old emails to their accounts. The process for this has started and we hope will be complete by the end of next week.

Kind regards
Customer Services

Well, my status now is:
> can send and receive email OK with Thunderbird client
> vastly more spam than with ecosse
> still no old emails from before migration.

I guess I'm lucky - my Mum (not a technical whizz) still can't get logged in at all. I'll try and sort it at Christmas when I see her.

I AM (supposidly) a technical whizz and I have had no luck so far so don't hold your breath (e)...

Anyone recommend calling the really useless support number?

ecoose.net and breathe....

well I can send emails (now and again) and I can certainly recieve! more than 43 spam emails today alone for viagra, from Mr. obogo in Nigeria wanting my bank details so he can transfer $500000 into my account, and some naked ladies who are lonely and have too much time on their hands....

If this reduced spam from breathe, I wouldn't like to think how much spam I would get before they 'tweaked' the system!

You are probably lucky your mum can't log in, she may be shocked by what she finds in her inbox! I have warned my mum just to delete all the stuff she gets from people she doesn't know...and to on no account open any of them....

Still have a web site that I can't get access to

sites.ecosse.net/therowans.roxburgh/book/

if anyone can hack it and wipe all the files on it I'd be most obliged - I've had no luck ftping to the site. Calico, ecosse and breathe have been totally useless.

this used to work...

ftp.sites.ecosse.net
therowans.roxburgh
internet

and now doesn't

have recently tried this

ftp.ecosse.net
therowansroxburgh
internet

but it also doesn't work

any luck?

with gaining access to your site? I receieved an email from Breathe after my complaint to the ISP association, saying they had twaeked their filters and less spam was arriving in peoples accounts (haha). However I am still recieving a ton of spam in my inbox. Currently in Spain but will get back on the case (i.e send another complaint) as soon as I return...

Ecosse emails

I am still waiting for my old Ecosse emails to be migrated over.

However - my brother says his Ecosse Inbox has been transferred (in December), so it appears they have made a start. Possibly accounts will be done in alphabetical order.

I'm thinking of putting another complaint in too because this is ridiculous.

Spams

P.S. I am getting 20+ spam emails a day from Ecosse. Really annoying when you have Outlook Express running most of the day and it keeps showing new mail has arrived.

At long last!!! I plucked up the courage to phone them and guess what? My password had mysteriously changed from lower to upper case during the migration. They tried to give me a long winded explanation, but at 60p per minute I got off the line tut sweet..

If this helps anyone else I will be happy :)

Ecosse servers down?

OK, anyone else not got service from either Ecosse mail servers or the webmail since last night?

Still no email welcoming us to the new Breathe support arrangements yet either.

"Ecosse users

There are currently website, POP and webmail issues with ecosse.net email accounts. Users will be currently be unable to access their email. The hosting company have reported a general problem with their servers and this is affecting all their customers including ecosse.

Our technical team are in regular contact with them and we hope to have an update on when they will be bringing back the service as soon as possible.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused."

Haven't been able to access mail for 3 days now. This lot really are useless. How I wish we could get the nice folks from Calico back - there's simply *no* excuse for servers to be down 3 days in this day and age. Breathe are a farce.

If I wasn't so attached to my email address, I'd be off like a shot.

And here we are; a new year and again no email service from the ecosse.net server which friends breathe.net are running (Yes I did the complain bit).

What gives?

If they now realize that they cannot make money from ecosse.net then they should hand it on or charge us. Some, like me, would pay to keep the domain in my email.

ISPA complaint about Breathe.

Just back in Asturias (Spain) from a few days in Sevilla with no net access. My mum texted me from the UK to say she can´t dial into ecosse.net so I checked the web page when I got back earlier and couldn´t access it or my email on ecosse. I´m going to send another complaint to the ISPA and see what they say, I would reccomend evryone does the same and get anyone else you know who is with ecosse to do likewise. I will also send a complaint from my mums hotmail account on behalf of her...
