Broadband ISP with Static

Hi,

I'm moving to the UK in a couple of months and I'd be grateful for some advice on a reputable Broadband provider. I currently have ADSL2+ with download speeds of about 6MBPS and a static IP address which allows me to host my own web and SMTP server and I'd like something equivalent.

Ideally I'd also like to get access to subscription TV and cheaper phone calls in some sort of bundle. The broadband requirement shouldn't preclude me getting subscription TV.

We will be in place called Haywards Heath, near London.

I had a look at the list of ISP's on one of the other pages but it doesn't give me a feel for how reputable/reliable the providers are.

My girlfriend, who is already in the UK buts doesn't really know much about shopping for ISPs has suggested Virgin Non-Cable Broadband, because of the phone bundle but as far as I can see its a dynamic IP.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post ad I hope you can help.

I have ADSL from Entanet; their resellers offer various packages. I pay £19.99/month for a 30GB peak/300GB off-peak package. It comes with a free static IP, or a free 8 IP block if you request (no RIPE app necessary). The reseller I use is this company - www.ukfsn.org .

I've no experience of bundles, but it probably means you'll have to look at Sky (satellite TV), or cable offerings.

As well as this site there are busy broadband ISP forums here - http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/ , and here is some information about the services at the Haywards Heath telephone exchange - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange.php?ecode=SDHYWRD .

It looks like Sky mid/max and BE might be available:-

Sky http://check.skybroadband.com/ Max is £10 per month for up to 16mbps ADSL2+ subject to distance from the exchange etc. requires a minimum of a £15 per month Sky TV subscription. Unfortunately Sky doesn't offer static IP addresses.

I think www.Bethere.co.uk will provide a static IP as option on their unlimited package at an additional cost, and as standard on their pro package which in addition has an upto 2.5mbps upload rate, but comes at a price.

Many Thanks

Thank you for the information!

Bethere does seem to get reasonable reviews from people and their product seems to meet my broadband requirements.

Have a good day.
