Broadband - So who would you recommend ?

Ok i thought i would ask some posters what they think.. I have one in mind who i use.

I have to recommend a broadband service for 2 of my family,
it needs to be:

512k
unlimited
free modem
and no or very little setup/connection fee
minimal contract terms

Whats your suggestion ?

I suppose Gio and Lion Rampant are out of the question ? :D Only joking ...

Personally I'd forget about the free modem and activation and go for excellent service, short contract, unlimited use etc. . I'd recommend Zen and Plusnet (technically now not unlimited). I notice Wanadoo have a free modem and connection, is that who you were thinking of ? :)

Well for me it has to be Pipex, been with them for 3 years now and no problems

If customer service is important as well as speed and reliability then I'd go for Zen, I have nothing but prasie for them - I have recommended them to several friends - and they are still friends months later :smilet:

Forget the free modem and setup offers - as my old dad always says 'tha gets nowt for nowt'

AOL

No problems with caps, email and you don't need their software at all.

If you like the AOL software then with built in parental control features and email so easy even Labour couldn't screw up, I wholeheartedly approve them.

:D

NDO, without a doubt. Flawless service and great support. One of the web's better kept secrets, even despite the sheer quantity of excellent reviews here on ISPr.

The Utility Warehouse although a 12 month contract is all of your 'wants'

Been using Pipex for the last three years, given loads of recommendations to friends who are all happy. A great service :o

Im also a Pipex 2mb trail user and very happy with the speeds and service. The only downside to Pipex residential packages is the lack of a FREE static IP address OR EVEN the ability to buy one seperatly.

Oh and if you use pipex, i would suggest you use the capped News Server.
