BT and contracts

if l remember correctly didnt BT recently introduce 12 month contracts?

if so my mother wasnt informed, and as some may know we are moving due to various upsetting circumstances.. we are now in the new area however BT refused to move the contract to my sisters place for temporary saying it wasnt allowed and charged for a contract she wasnt aware or contacted to tell she was now within...

we wondered if it was worth arguing and seeing if we could get the charges removed which would be useful with our lack of cash at the second...

email Ian dot livingston at bt dot com explain why you had to move explain it was a cottage tied to a job and the employers were unreasonable then gave you a months notice. would also say you are having to get def to sort out wages that are owed BT can at their discretion void the bill.

thanks, will email today (got a threatening reminder and as we are planning on going back we need to keep on nice terms.) will pay the bill in good faith but email as well to see what can be arranged.

They do have 12 month rolling contracts, but you have to choose them. They are a bit cheaper than the 1 month contracts (I use as 12month contract, but opted for it).

my mother never opted for the 12 month contract, l did mention it to them once but she was never notified and pretty much forgot about it.. we hoped to move the contract to a new house but were stopped from doing that as well as we were not allowed to supposedly move it to my sisters place according to the Pakistani technical support rep.

I would have thought changing the T&Cs without notification illegal!

I would also have thought that moving the contract to a new house would be allowed as part of the contract, and that closing it would not be allowed.

Not great customer services from BT!

well emailed the address kits shared, got a reply at 6am stating a senior support rep would be contacting, the disconnection fees were wavered and our bill written off with a £16 rebate :) alls well that ends well
