BT, China new technology is the risk worth the gain.

After reading this it makes you think just what BT had plans for would you give a contract to a company that is from China Russia or other country that might be a risk to your own countries safety?

BT seem to have been making a lot of bad judgements over the last few years is this mainly greed from a selected few at the top or something more sinister?
INTELLIGENCE chiefs have warned that China may have gained the capability to shut down Britain by crippling its telecoms and utilities.

They have told ministers of their fears that equipment installed by Huawei, the Chinese telecoms giant, in BT’s new communications network could be used to halt critical services such as power, food and water supplies.

The warnings coincide with growing cyberwarfare attacks on Britain by foreign governments, particularly Russia and China.

A confidential document circulating in Whitehall says that while BT has taken steps to reduce the risk of attacks by hackers or organised crime, “we believe that the mitigating measures are not effective against deliberate attack by China”.

Since nearly everything seems to be made in China these days (including my fiancé), it seems we are DOOMED!!!

Couldn't a company as large as BT request a code review of crucial hardware, in a similar way to Windows source code ? :hrmph:

Yes.

But if the critical stuff is hardwired under any operating system software and lying dormant as in sleeper agents of the Cold War years, one can not be sure of anything. There again the same could be true of any hardware company such as Intel.

It would probably explain why the Microsoft-Intel accord has worked so well for so long. If they are in bed with the NSA and FBI/CIA/MI5^n/CSIS/ASIS et al...

I don't doubt for one moment that the poorer countries whose consumers can't afford non-pirated Windows are for political reasons not encouraged to use free software for political reasons.

I dare say the majority of people in opposition parties in 3rd world countries have even less computease than Sarah Palin.

Look whose looking at you Blue Eyes.

By "code review", I was thinking along the lines of hardware firmware, or at least starting at the bottom and working their way up ... :hrmph:

The Huawei/China conspiracy stuff is nothing new and has been doing the rounds for donkeys years, though to date the links haven't been easily provable and some think that it's down to rivals seeking to discredit their cheaper competition. There's always that "Cold War" fear, which has foundation in the current climate, although China are capitalist communists so they'll be thinking more about their pockets and not how to destroy us all.

The destroy bit comes later, if needed :) .

Not that it matters, all our public data and history will soon be viewable to the highest bidder thanks to epic government databases and their super-amazing security levels.

Nice to find whacky Jaqui is caught out by snoopers. If the cap fits... you'd have to be pretty damned stupid.

its amazing to find out what our tax money is spent on... she would deny it she couldnt admit it honestly because it would wreak her reputation (not that she isnt already) all polititions should use their own money to claim for services such as the internet, theres a wealth of porn here too and l bet a large chunk use their internet to look at it as well between the odd emails and research they do online.

...... l'll bet if you did a search (not that anyone would want to) youll come past many celeb sites with photoshopped images of her along with many other politicians... obviously there are way too many ppl with too much time on their hands or someone wants to scar us for the rest of our lives.
