BT FTTH rollout checker accurate?

I've just had a visit from a BT engineer to come look at a reoccuring problem on our standard fibre network. After she was done we were talking about the lack of FTTH in our area and she said that BT were currently in the area working on the infrastructure for it. But on the BT/openreach website it doesn't even have our area in the plans for it. Who is more likely to be right? Surely they ain't gonna be building infrastructure for it if they don't even have plans for it to go live yet? But then also wouldn't the engineer be the most likely to know what's going on actually being in the area.

When Openreach comes to an area it should be pretty obvious. When they came to my area there were lots of vans both from Openreach and Instalcom, they preferred partner around here. If your current copper line is delivered overhead from telegraph pole you can look for the fibre CBTs (black boxes) getting installed in the poles as an indication when a pole has been retro fitted.

As above you will notice if they're in the area, they have to string and dig fibre all over the place, put new hardware (black boxes) on the telephone polls etc.

The buildout in my rural area was never on the Openreach map though, I heard somewhere that some schemes - like here in Scotland - that were being funded under alternative arrangements by the government were missing from Openreach's build map and it was definitely the case for me.

It took about 4 months from first noticing them digging for the service to be ready to order.

Officially, my area has no planned live date on the tracker. But for the last year, Openreach have been clearing ducts all around the area. The roadworks tracker is full of stuff like this:

"Enabling new localised ultra-fast broadband connections This activity involves excavation to Install telecoms duct to provide essential service and reinstatement"

They surely can't be doing this unless FTTP is coming sooner rather than later?

Which roadworks tracker are you using as i thought the one.network one now no longer gives details of what work is occuring ( it used to ) ?

You have to be careful using roadworks info in Scotland, with the R100 only covering properties with less than 30mbs they are covering the remote properties and leaving a hole in the middle like a doughnut. So I have FTTP but the local village has FTTC, the village will be FTTPed later but was surrounded by roadworks notifications when the R100 teams were operating. That made it look like the village was about to get FTTP but only remote properties got it.
