I am a computer technician trying to keep a friends system online. The tariff is a six month old free one that comes with a mobile phone contract. We have had continual line dropouts at irregular intervals that require a call to customer service in Asia to re fire the connection.
So far we have tried three new Liveboxes, three new filters, and three new cables to rule them out as the problem. At the moment we are using a new Belkin ADSL router. The line dropouts happen with the computer either switched on or off, and on both wireless and Ethernet setup. That in turn, rules out any problem with customer equipment and bandwidth swamping
The customer service will always succeed in restarting the connection, but refuse to look at the wider problem. In short, the moment the phone is put down they consider the problem solved…………………………..
…………….Return to line one.
