BT Street Hubs - discussion

Thought I'd update this again to say that my area looks like there getting the BT Street Hubs next as our local county council approved the applications 2 years ago and the 4 phone boxes that where going to be removed, to be replaced by the BT Street Hubs are due to be removed in the next 2 weeks according to a roadworks website although why it's taken 2 years for BT to do this I'm not to sure as they are normally deployed within 9 months. Also Croydon is getting some as well.

I assume the Croydon ones come with n78 considering they've started using n78 micros?

I haven't heard anything about the other sites that are planned but EE is installing a slimline monopole currently.

You got me to check on one.network, I don't think BT has planning permission for another one on the same road but they have some sort of road works going on one of the main roads in the city centre. There is a telephone box in the place that they're saying road works is happening at though, I can't imagine this being a good place for a Street Hub considering there's a Global advertisement board about 80m from the site.

I really wish there was a better solution that allowed me to see works at the moment.

Might have to keep an eye out on EE.

Shows road works by BT on a road, unsure what it might be

Try using https://mastdatabase.co.uk/maps/streetworks/. It's hit and miss whether it works or not, but it worked earlier today and show me where they're removing old phonebooks in my town with a description of works.

Interesting i know BT won some applocations on appeal by Croydon council for the street hubs so it could be something to do with that so it will be interesting to see what happens. Where I live which the high street is 30 mins away they already disconnected the phone boxes ready for the BT street hubs to arrive so I shall keep you updated on the progress for when they get deployed.

Managed to finally do a speedtest on a Street Hub now that Seeek has VoLTE TAC access. I think this is capped to 60/20mbps, so there's a potential it could go higher than this.

Upload is pretty respectable though. Might try EE for a few days honestly through my Seeek eSIM and see whether I like it or not.

59.6/30.2mbps

Shows BT Street Hub cell listing in NetMonster

nice! looks like the eSIM i was testing can use EE B20/VoLTE TAC too now! works even if i disable VoLTE too. i wonder if EE has made changes to allow more roaming networks to use it.

i just tested an EE PAYG SIM in another phone (can't disable VoLTE on my iPhone) and if i disable VoLTE on that B20 won't work, so seems like they're still requiring it on EE SIMs and i guess most MVNO's too :(

The speed is quite fast on the BT Street Hubs they now removed the 2 phone boxes in the city centre where I live in North Wales so it now looks like the BT Street Hubs are now inmiment.

Found these just now fairly locally here, will keep an eye out with what happens after I suppose.

Is there any planning applications for Street Hubs in your area? Might be helpful looking at that.

Probably should mention too that I checked another Street Hub and it has no 4G either, right next to a PoW though anyways (although EE isn't on it).

There might be, I haven't checked

Edit: I can't find any planning for "street hub" Kiosks show results, but everything was 5m+ ago (and not in the area where they both are)

The 2 phone boxes near the city centre where I live in North Wales have now been removed and it looks like BT street hub arrival is imminent
