BT Total Broadband & connection

I have just installed BT Total Broadband using the Voyager 210 Router (cable, not wireless) and it works fine except at startup it spends ages searching for a wireless connection and finally puts a small red shield with a white cross in the bottom left. This indicates no wireless connection found.

I asked BT Support about stopping this happening but they said you can't, which sounds like nonsense to me.

I expect it is one of the services started up when you connect the PC but does anyone have any suggestions how to turn this off or make it time out more quickly?

Many thanks

Sounds like it is the BT Wireless Connection Manager program. If you used the CD supplied by BT it will have been installed in the C:\Program Files\btb_wcm folder. Hope this helps.

It's a service that is part of the package...it does no harm and you can surf away whilst it is looking for something that doesn't exist (on your system anyway)...If it bothers you THAT much...buy a network card and set up a network...it will soon find it and the red tray Icon will turn to a green one.
If you don't like looking at the icon in the sys tray either cover that part of the screen with masking tape or right click and close it down.

:)
