Connection speed test
Speed test OK
BT Broadband Desktop Help tests your connection speed by downloading a test file and measuring the speed of the download.

Your computer downloaded the file at a speed of

0.881 megabits per second. We consider this to be within the range of acceptable speeds for your line, bearing in mind that connection speed can vary throughtout the day depending on how busy the internet and BT's network are. During peak times (typically 6-9pm), connection speed can be significantly slower than at other times.

and THIS at peak...

dident check download speeds during the day but will do tomorow...

From BT's FUP:

The Fair Usage Policy is designed to ensure that the service received by the vast majority of our customers is not negatively impacted because of extremely heavy usage by a very small minority of customers. This is why BT continuously monitors network performance and may restrict the speed available to very heavy users during peak time. This applies to customers on all Options.

the rep kerry when signing up..

09:05 just rang up bt they say that they cant do anything but will check my complaint.

09:16 grrr 3rd person i have talked to this morning... they say also that my name appears different on the official letter they sent me, so i said LOL that means i don't legally have a contract with yourselves as no-one by that name lives here:)

09:29 now just spoke to an Indian lass, and have again been given a transfer to another rep.. told to ring the broadband customer options team on 0800800030 direct.

09:34 "the other person has cleared" ROFL,,

09:35 rang direct to 0800800030 and they don't answer lol..dam "thank you for calling BT your call is in a q for an adviser and will be answered as soon as possible " FFS...

09:40 got hold of that number to be transfered to another bt escalation department.. lol who transfered me back to another Indian lass who couldn't grasp the problem..

09:48 put on hold to attempt to verify the claims i have made, that i was delebritly misinformed of bt's policy just to sign me up and that i was completly assured that no traffic shaping was taking place. when it is and therefor i would like out of my contract. even my darn name they pit me down as Mr T Contact ROFL... totally wrong.. now in a darn q.....

09:54 Indian lass is sending a complaint to their off line team, to confirm that i was misinformed by the sales rep and therefor should be let out of my bt Internet contract with no charge. ( yay 1 for the good guys) she says though she just has to confirm this with her supervisor and will send me a confirmation email saying i do not have to pay charges.. now lets see how this pans out..

10:01 Still on hold, bt Indian lass came back and asked me to confirm over the phone the problem.. i reiterated that i was mislead by the sales team to get a sale and was lied to about the traffic shaping policy and would like a mac code.. shes now writing all this down and forwarding it to the right team,, put on hold again...

10:09 lass came back told me she has sent the letter to the complaints department, confirming that i will not get charged for leaving and i have to wait 48 working hours to see what they say.. she gave me a ref and now all i have to do it wait,,,

now i sit back..now i go to offcom and complain

Your sorry saga of call centres for BT support is exactly the reason I left BT after three years and moved to fast.co.uk. Never looked back. Calls answered in I think Guildford, and immediate responses by people who know what they are doing, and they get results.

Update: as on now i have a mac code from bt, i am out of my 18 month contract with bt broadband. ofcom prevails as it looks like after BT said NO, you cant leave your contract i asked for a copy of the recorded phone msg when i signed up and said ofcom says im allowed a copy . and all of a sudden WEE im out of a contract with no fees.. fishy huh lol..
now i need to find a darn isp that DOESN'T LIEEEEE lol
bye bye BT.

Bye bye BT.

When they admitted that a small rural exchange in the heart of London was used to phish to Phorm for an ever so small part of all of last year, they neglected to say that there was no such thing occurring elsewhere and in so many other years.

And that's no lie.

Incidentally, if a recording has been made of your conversation then you are entitled to a copy of it? Is that right?

That should cause a few of these buggers (for want of a better expletive) a few problems if we all complained.
