Bulldog Broadband.... Bull****!

Bulldog, who continue to push their new 'super duper' 16Mb broadband service, apart from being generally quite poor in terms of connection and speed, have had serious problems to do with email services for the last few days.

I and many others have been unable to send and receive email since last Saturday or Sunday. It's now Thursday... 5 days later!

Their comment? We're having problems upgrading for our 16Mb customers that has affected all those on 8Mb! They do not know when it will be fixed!!!

It's outrageous, in this day and age, for this sort of thing to be allowed. I have a business that is reliant on email (like many, I'm sure) and they're incompetence is killing me!

If you have a domain name for your company then set it up so you can use that instead of bulldogs.

I hardly ever use my ISPs email so if I change ISPs I don not have any problem with emails.

Oh I have got that and I do use it. For my general needs that's fine ...but some of my work, regretably, relies on having to use my ISP ...and therein lies the problem.

If its business, dont use an ISP unless you have a business account with them.

Register a domain, that way it looks more professional, and is a lot more likely to be reliable.

That way, if your connection goes down, you could still access it via dial up.

Its always wise to keep a modem handy and details of a pay as you go dial up account on your PC, just in case.

right now as you can expect with the MASS PROVISION tomorrow of ADSL2+ they will be TOTALLY overloaded and priorities have to be made, and as they see it, Email isnt at the top of thier list..

But in saying this, are you aware that you now need to login with these settings? if not, that may be your problem..

Login: username@bulldoghome.com
incoming: mail.bulldoghome.com
outgoing: mail.bulldoghome.com

If you have a business you really should have gone the domainname/webhost route for your email, I wouldnt rely on an ISPs services at all (that goes for all of em tbh) thats what I did :) and I dont even have a business :D

well bully for you! try looking at bulldog's site (or many other ISP's) and you'll find that things can tend to work geographically

Is everyone always so patronising here? I have a business. I have a domain. And I have domain name email. I operate from a laptop, in various locations. I can obtain my email online ...and I can even send too! What I can't do is send bulk email (legitimate) that way ...and that's why I need a conventional ISP broadband service.

People are not being patronising. The simple fact is, its not a business account.

If your going to use something for business, then usually you have to pay for reliability.

I do agree with you that its very bad practice to have email thats not working for weeks, but thats exactly the reason why you shouldnt rely on a normal ISP account's email.

What sort of bulk email do you send?

I been having trouble with Buldog myself with the conenction problem and packages!

I've signed up in April, after what I thought was a good service to sign up with for the all-in-one bill which I was seeking fro rather than 3 different bills when I was with Talktalk orginally. I did ask Talktalk before leaving if they do an all-in-one bill and they said no.

Well since April after 2 free month of certain package I proceed to remove the packages I no longer wanted namely free UK calls, low and behold can't remove it when I was told I could remove it. Few calls and emails and to this date still not been removed! And worst of all is random constant DC and calls to tech suport and passing the buck to me saying to re-install my modem drivers it is my modem drivers well did this 3 times so can't be my modem drivers and yes it is the latest version.

So I am not generally happy with Bulldog! IF they sort out the package problem and the dc then all is well!

your not using the ST330 are you? if so, ditch it and get an ethernet modem/router, you may find you will be more stable with that and possibly syncing higher too, recommended are the ST585v6, the Belkin 7633 (not from PCW as they are firmware .17 and can't be telnetted) and the Netgear DG834GT (not Gv2)

Hope that helps :)

There are many private domain/mail hosts that will allow mass mailings.

As long as you can prove that the mails are not spam many will have no problem allowing them. And they are not too expensive.

Good Idea

I hardly ever use my ISPs email so if I change ISPs I don not have any problem with emails.

I do the same and bypass their email. :)
