The Network Interconnect Consultative Committee (the UK main broadband standards body) has agreed to support a new technology that will allow for the implementation of ADSL2+ over BT's copper network.
Until now it was not possible to simultaneously run ADSL2+ and VDSL, however a solution has been provided by Bulldog Communications who developed a method of shaping transmissions so that both technologies can run at the same time without interfering with each other.
ADSL2+ will allow for speeds of up to 18Mb/s and could start being rolled out by the end of this year.
